New Delhi: The Delhi Police's Crime Branch has arrested four people for their alleged involvement in supplying fake and forged documents to obtain admissions for nursery seats under the economically weaker section (EWS) category in the national capital.

"We have arrested four people in connection with admissions to the city's prominent schools under the economically weaker section category," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav told a news agency.

Four people "Anil Kumar, Sudama Singh, Dharam Singh and module's kingpin Mukesh Sharma" were arrested from different hideouts in the city on Monday.

According to the police, Kumar used to connect prospective clients to Sharma, while Sudama and Dharam Singh used to play a role in arranging and preparing the forged documents.

The joint commissioner of police (crime) will address a press conference in this regard later today.

In May, a newspaper had reported that the police have identified the gang that helped its clients procure fake documents to get nursery admissions under the EWS category.

The crime branch has registered a case and initiated an enquiry, and also asked major private schools in the city to furnish all records of nursery admissions made in 2014-2015, added the daily.

Every school is required to reserve 25 percent seat for students belonging to the EWS category.

You are spot on

This is a good beginning. Inclusion of EWS in mainstream schools is a law, wish schools followed it. Lets hope this starts a change.  Do schools in Gurgaon follow this too?

Anil

Not all schools give EWS seats and flout the guidelines of RTE in Gurgaon.
