New Delhi, Feb 1 : As the first list of children selected for nursery admission was released by city schools today, it brought joy to the lucky parents whose tiny tots could make the cut and heart break to thousands of others.

Unable to make it in the first attempt, parents are now waiting for the second list which will be released later this month.

Asked about the nursery admission process, Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said not a single child would be left without getting admission.

“We will ensure that each and every child in the city gets admission in nursery class,” he said.

The first list shows that most of the schools preferred children with points in sibling or alumni category, a trend that reduced the chances of admission of kids in the general category.

However, experts and principals have advised parents not to get disheartened and wait for the second list.

“There is always a chance in the second list as many kids who are selected in multiple schools will create vacancies in some schools,” said Sumit Vohra, founder of popular parents forum ‘admissionsnursery.com’.

“If your ward got selected in a school which is not of your choice. Don’t waste time, get the admission done first and then wait for the second list. The basic rule of nursery admission is to block a seat,” he told PTI.

Ashok Pandey, Principal of Ahlcon International School in Mayur Vihar, concurred and said,” Parents should deposit the fees in the first school their child has been selected. If a school of their choice still has vacancy, they may switch to it later.” According to the rules by Directorate of Education, a school has to refund the fees within a month if one withdraws from it after deducting the registration fee and one month’s tuition fee.

The results of first list also showed that many schools have chosen draw of lots for selecting children even as they adopted a points system.

The second list will be out by February 28 and the whole admission process, which began with the selling of forms on January 2, has to be completed before March 31, as per the DoE guidelines.

Tomorrow Mr Vohra will tell on special program for those who could not make it anywhere

DELHI Aajtak at 12.30 pm 2 Feb

I'll be at my at that time however I'll try to watch that program. But for the time being anything you can addup.

Apply in good pre school / Ncr if feasible

Thats what I also have been thinking. But should we relocate there and then apply or we apply there with current delhi address and then relocate? Will schools accept faraway delhi address?

yes ,they are flexible on distance and age

That's quit possible however (not sure what is the criteria for Gurgaon) for Noida/Ghaziabad, I heard the eligibility is 4+ as on 30th Sep.2012 (as per DPS Indirapuram site). My child will be 4+ only on Dec 2012 :-(

OK. My ward passes this criteria at least. Some good news already :)

Congrats Vijay :-) . By the way how many schools did you applied for? I applied for 30 schools.

Age is not an issue in many schools

min 3yrs in some and 3yrs 6month on 31 mar in some

Please can anyone help me by rating these schools for me?

1. Maxfort Pitampura.

2. DAV Pushpanjali.

3. DAV ND Block Pitampura.

I feel DAV Pushpanjali is best among these three.... Its scores well on using latest technologies at a low fee structure..

Agree mostly the chapter is closed , but we have to think that many of us applied atleast in 10 schools. I had limited choice as special needs was a requirement. Only few schools have it and i didnt make thru in any even after having a girl child, with neighbourhood points but None on alumini ...:(.. But definitely 2nd list will have some changes. And also this is the chance when school who wants to make money will declare all seats taken even if they have few left.. May sell them at a later stage at good price. So if you have good pockets try it now and then..Education is no longer free its sells for MOnEY ....And few of those who may agree just put your normal ward in a good govt school nearby dont waste his one year...
