Hefty donation, fees big hurdle for nursery admission: Survey
"The survey showed that parents spend a large proportion of their income on their children's education. The cost of education is increasing every year," Assocham Secretary General D S Rawat said.
NEW DELHI: Parents of tiny tots aiming for seats in top nursery schools in Delhi say the biggest hurdle they are facing is high 'donation fees' which ranged from Rs 3 lakhs to Rs 8 lakh, a survey has claimed.

The fee structure for nursery and KGs is costlier than that of Delhi University and many management institutions and affording best quality education for children has burnt a hole in the pocket of parents with majority of one-member-earning families often finding it impossible to pay for even one child's education.

Parents are keeping aside an average budget of over Rs 3 lakh to 8 lakh for a single child due to heavy donation fee charged by private schools, Assocham said in a survey.

Parents' applying for admissions in primary schools in National Capital Region (NCR) region have increased their budget from Rs 1 lakh in 2010 to minimum Rs 3 lakh in 2013, it said.

"The survey showed that parents spend a large proportion of their income on their children's education. The cost of education is increasing every year," Assocham Secretary General D S Rawat said.

He said the fee structure for nursery and KGs is costlier than that of Delhi University and many management institutions.

The chamber claimed that it has surveyed about 2,000 parents with a minimum salary bracket of Rs 3 to 8 lakh annually in NCR.

The survey observed that many parents have complained about schools demanding (donation) money without receipt in NCR.

Majority of parents believe it is difficult for a single parent to fund a child's education as the cost of education is rising every year, much ahead of inflation, it said.

"Over 92 per cent parents in one-member-earning families often find it impossible to pay even for one child's education. So, the demand of dual income is common to fulfill the education cost these days," the survey said.

Samita wait very good chances as whoever gets in DPS/Shriram/Vasant Vallay/ Sanskriti will vacate.

Thanks mam. Today i called SpringDales and they said there will be no 2nd list. All the seats are filled up. When there was a draw of lots for 22 seats, out of 22 selected students 12 are absent. I don't know whether the person who picked up the phone telling lie or it is true. Plz suggest

Samita, We are waiting for 2nd list of schools like DPS Rkp/Vk..they keep coming with 3rd /4th list also till March.

Thanks Mam for your valuable suggestion. I think i need to wait.

Its pathetic that Principals of these big schools are behaving like GODS these days.  They dont listen to your problems, they are rude and indifferent towards general public.  Bal Bharati School Principal Mr. V.K. Sehgal told us that admission was not their problem, it was parents' problem and parents have to solve it, they will not be able to do anything about it.  I wonder what children are learning in Bal Bharati where Principal's attitude is indifferent towards people.  There are many persons out there who are more qualified than these Principals of different schools.  The opportunity to impart education and do noble work has all vanished from these Principals' mind.  They take the plea that Govt guidelines are such but as u all know Govt has given free hand to all schools to make different criterias and result v all r facing......... it is the schools who have made these stupid criterias and not the Govt..........

very rt. harish.nowdays principals act like shopkeepers and behave as if we parents r beggers bef. them.though the d school is earning over us.principals r no longer teacher nowdays.dukaan chalate ha bus.beech2 ma insab principals ki confrence ho jati ha jisme sab inke kmane ke tactics exchange ho jate ha
