this is really a very bad news as my child is of 3+ and is not able to secure seat in any school till now as she does not have any sibling. the children who do not have any sibling have to suffer just because of the point system. If the schools are giving 25 to30 points to the siblings than they should give equal points to the first child also.

The Delhi HC has given a good verdict. The present process should continue

The need was to evaluate the age at which a child should enter the formal school. One year in the career or life of child would never matter but what really was important was to understand the physical and emotional consequences/ impact on the life of child if she/ he is made to go to a formal school at age 3.

I think details of order would throw more light on the reasons behind the judgement.

Schooling at 3+ Age is not right for emotional and natural development of child....

Disappointing..... Kanoon andha he hai..... Instead of mandating it to 3 years Court could have give a range in which one can get his/her child admitted in the formal school..... Why they want to be judge of our kids grooming..... Let parents decide what is best for their child.....I am starting to believe that its kalyug and evil always win in kalyug

Its a good decision.....in this age n time parents will even put their child in nursery at 2+ ...since anyways they have to leave their child in Playschool.......syllabus of 1st playschool year and nursery are almost the same.so a minimum age is a must . Else in order to get the best school seat...they will even admit at 2+.(Life is a race......(quote 3IDIOTS)

Dear Rajeev.....Life is a race, in fact rat race that’s why I wanted my child to enjoy one more year freely without any pressure.....Precisely, “school at what age” is not debatable here....BUT it actually what should be the age of "FORMAL SCHOOLING"....My kid is already going to playschool but just for playing and interacting with other kids....I have sent him to the nearest play school so that there should not be any travel hassle....Now after the court order I might have to consider schools which are 'not so close' to my residence as in fact there are no good school in the close vicinity.....Also there is BIG difference between environment of formal school and play-school.... All I was saying is instead of Govt./Court being the “masters of the universe’ they could have let the decisions in parents hand.... A good order would have been "Although the age remains same as 3+ but school should not deny giving admissions to 4+ in the nursery/pre-school/entry level (etc etc whatever name for initial class)." Also I want to clarify your misconception that if the order had came for 4+ then Delhi kids would have been behind other states kid....Totally wrong...Because the case was to increase the age to 4 and decrease the no. of classes before 1st class to ONE which is presently TWO. So effectively all kids will be in 1st Class at the age of 5.

Thanks Manu...for the clarification in the last line

@Sakshi, Can you clarify about "MAXIMUM" AGE as well...

NO  DOE  DOES NOT HAS DEFINED ANY UPPER AGE LIMIT

Does that mean schools can have their own wish and will about the upper age limit. Since DOE has not defined the upper age then how come schools have their own rules about upper age limit as in case of 3 years schools are citing DOE's guideline. This is double standard. In this whole confusion of 3 or 4 years as minimum age, some kids were not eligible for Nursery last year and this year they are over age for the same class. Does our Honorable court or DOE have any policy for such kids??????

I knew this. No one can change the system. Lovely ji very confidently said that the age will remain same as 3+ years for nursery on 16th Jan. I am in favour of 4+ years as the 3 year old child is too small to go to formal schools. They are not even toilet trained. We parents are really helpless whether it comes to the matter of POINT SYSTEM for Admission or the Min Age for Nursery Admission. The age remain same and the point system for admission also remain same as of the last year.....

3+ is the correct age...dont u already send u r kid to playschool from 2+?!!!my  son joined nursery at 3+ and is going to be 4+ in feb...its really enjoyable for kids to be with their same-aged ...and he tells tales of wt all he did in school....everyday with gr8 fun....hope u also havea fantastic experience....nothing to fear
