The Delhi Directorate of Education (DOE) is set to declare its nursery admission guidelines on Thursday after the Delhi High Court on Wednesday refused to urgently hear a public interest litigation that challenged the points system followed by schools.
In absence of any directions from the high court, the admission guidelines will remain almost same as last year with a few changes in the schedule. The matter will come up for hearing in the court on January 23.
"We were ready with the guidelines but wanted to wait for the court's guidelines. Since we cannot wait till the end of January to kick-start the process, we will release the guidelines on Thursday. The basic guidelines will remain the same and only a few changes have been made in the schedule," said Amit Singla, director education.
Last year, 25% of all seats were reserved for students from the economically weaker sections. Out of the remaining 75%, a maximum of 20% could be reserved for the management quota.
Children above the age of 3+ can be admitted in nursery.
As it was last year, schools will be free to decide the criteria on which they will admit students. But all schools will have to follow the Right to Education Act guidelines.

Dear Money
! BVN...Go for it..in case you get it . Very nice academic results and overall.
2 Indian School...It was Good...but has lost its sheen
( some parents shifted after nursery to other schools ) Mixed feedback
3 Amrita Vidalayam...Decent/Mediocre (As per parents feedback )
4 Summerfields...Under K R Mangalam now (Mixed feedback) parents not very happy
5 Pinnacle...If you don't get anywhere else block your seat and shift later. It is Ok in academics but infra wise not that good !!
Thanks sumit,
just one more thing about pinnacle , by infra you mean building and extra-cirruclum activities related . am i right ?
why i am asking again because it is 50 metres from my house.
is it good or OK in academics.
ofcourse will try for all nearby , my first prefrence is blue bells , if selected.
Dear Money
It is good in studies ( feedback from few parents only so i cannot vouch for it)
yes rest you are spot on !!
thnx,
This is highly ridiculous...it shows the prevalence of corruption everywhere...how could the high court just sideline itself from such a crucial matter and assign a hearing date which occurs after the admission process start date...which means that even if the court give judgement in favor of the parents, still for this year there will be no impact on the whole process...anyways one should never expect a judgement on the first hearing itself (especially in India)...we can't even now hope for the best to happen, because our last hope (Delhi High Court) itself is not showing any interest of helping us out...
@Pradeep, welcome to the farce called nursery admissions :) Exactly the same game played out last year and the year before that perhaps too :)
Dear Pradeep
Lets be positive and hope there is something better this year for the parents !!
Hi Sumit,
Parents who are not alumni of the school, & seeking admission for their first child, would hardly get 30-40 points even for the nearest school. Do you feel they would be getting admission there?
Kavita, Lets just wait for guidelines.
