The Delhi Directorate of Education (DOE) is set to declare its nursery admission guidelines on Thursday after the Delhi High Court on Wednesday refused to urgently hear a public interest litigation that challenged the points system followed by schools.
In absence of any directions from the high court, the admission guidelines will remain almost same as last year with a few changes in the schedule. The matter will come up for hearing in the court on January 23.
"We were ready with the guidelines but wanted to wait for the court's guidelines. Since we cannot wait till the end of January to kick-start the process, we will release the guidelines on Thursday. The basic guidelines will remain the same and only a few changes have been made in the schedule," said Amit Singla, director education.
Last year, 25% of all seats were reserved for students from the economically weaker sections. Out of the remaining 75%, a maximum of 20% could be reserved for the management quota.
Children above the age of 3+ can be admitted in nursery.
As it was last year, schools will be free to decide the criteria on which they will admit students. But all schools will have to follow the Right to Education Act guidelines.

Thanks for this information. Is there any upper age limitation for Nursery?
Thanks
I would like to know this as well.
Thanks
One more question, can school consider for 4 yrs 9 days age for admission?
Satyam,If upper cut off is 2 then it will then yes ,if only one year then no.
Those schools who gives a bracket for eg. Children born between 1st April'2009 to 31st March 2010, it means they will not accept 4yr+ children.
Other schools who says min. 3yr+ as on 1st April'2013 may accept 4yr+ children, but i think such schools are less....
most of the schools specify the bracket.
Dear Shival
Thanks for helping the parents community
This year DOE is supposed to come with upper age cut off guidelines for Nursery. Then it won't be school specific..as you rightly said what is being followed till now !!
As regards age limit, majority of schools will reject applicants born after 31 March 2010.
Many parents are waiting for upper age cut off guidelines for nursery.let's hope DOE includes that also in guidelines today.
