I am another dissappointed parent with different age criteria. This is very unfair for my child who is eligible for very few schools this time. For some schools she is too small to go to nursery and for some she is appropriate age. How can same city have different age criteria? This shows that there is no Education Policy in this state.

Yes the same is with us....my child is jan 2009 born and now because of the age criteria he's not eligilble for many of the schools..we have left with very few choices this year. This is really unfair to the kids as we cannot make them sit for the interviews two times...with no other option left we have to choose one year in which we can make the kid sit for the interviews...something should be done on this... all the schools must have the same age criteria so that no one suffers and no confusion occurs.

My son is Aug 2008 born. Last year in schools where he was eligible for nursery was not selected. The school in which he was selected was admitting him for Pr-Nursery giving  a reason that we should not put too much pressure on the child. So we deffered his admission for this year. But now we find that accept for the same school the child is over age for other schools. I agree there should be minimum age criteria for admission but there should not be any age criteria for maximum age. Also i believe all those children born between April to September or December of any year are the most that are facing this problem.

Promises of Haryana Education Minister Geeta Bukkal made just before a year remain in Air.

New Delhi, Thu Sep 15 2011, 02:23 hrs

As pre-school admissions are underway in schools across NCR, the Haryana Education Minister expressed concern over the “unstructured” admission process followed in the state and said her government might look to replicate the Delhi model and have a calendar in place.

“I agree that there are problems with the admissions schedule followed by the private schools, especially in Gurgaon. We need to look into it and fix it,” Haryana Education Minister Geeta Bukkal told Newsline over the phone.

She said there is a need to plan and structure the pre-school admissions to help reduce parents’ anxiety.

“Every year there are new private schools opening up in Gurgaon and they need to fill in seats. So, they start the admission process earlier than other schools. This causes a lot of problems for the parents. They have to keep tab of each and every school. We will try and fix this problem,” she said.

Bukkal said, “I am aware that schools in Gurgaon start admissions process as early as August. And, parents are supposed to submit fees in that school. However, other schools start admissions in October. This year we will try and find solutions to the refund issues that parents face as well. We too should have an admissions calender.”

The Minister hinted that the the state directorate of education might try and replicate the Delhi model of pre-school admissions.

“We need to improve the current admissions process and we will look into the matter seriously.”

In Delhi, the Directorate of Education issues a calender and within a given time frame all schools are supposed to start and end the registration process. The directorate also issues dates for the announcements of the first, second and the third list of the selected candidates.

In Haryana (Gurgaon), this rule is not applicable to the schools. So schools have their own calender which at times stretches up to the whole year.

Ques: If child is 3+ but less than 3.5yrs and  If we admit our child in nursery, then can we apply again next year for those where age criteria is above 3.5yrs? And In case if selected,  will those school consider your child when they come to know that child is already in nursery of other school? Please let me know.
