How to measure distance from school?? Aerial or Road Distance??

How is the distance from the school to be measured - Road distance or Aerial Distance?

Some schools (eg Bal Bharti Dwarka) have categorically mentioned that aerial distance will be considered and have in fact depicted as to how the same is to be determined.

Many schools takes through School transport distance/ some give locality wise points/ Some School mention Road distance/Aerial distance through Google maps.
