Delhi: Parents claim schools demanding Rs 1 lakh as donation for nursery

New Delhi: Guidelines issued by the Delhi Education Department on nursery admissions are being flouted by several schools in the national capital. Not only are complaints about arbitrariness by schools in the admission procedure pouring in, but several parents have also alleged that schools have been demanding hefty donation for admitting their wards.

Many parents accuse the schools of not following the Education Department guidelines. According to the guidelines the school should issue Economically Weaker Sections quota and General quota together. But some of the schools have released only the General quota list.

On January 4 the Education Department directed the schools to issue break-up of points, but even this is not been done. Parents also allege that schools have been demanding Rs 35, 000 to Rs 1 lakh as donation.

Even after Education Department's strict guidelines the schools are not following it and have been releasing the admission list on their websites. But till now neither the Delhi government nor the Education Department has taken any action against the schools.

Last year donations in Dwarka Schools went upto Rs.3,00,000 too.

As per RTE Act

“Section 13 (1) No school or person shall, while admitting a child, collect any capitation fee and subject the child or his or her parents or guardian to any screening procedure.
(2) Any school or person, if in contravention of the provision of subsection (1)(a) receives capitation fee, shall be punishable with fine which may extend to ten times the capitation fee charged;

(b) subjects a child to screening procedure, shall be punishable with fine which may extend to twenty-five thousand rupees for the first contravention and fifty thousand rupees for each subsequent contraventions.”

Parents don’t complain fearing repercussions.

The schools must be transparent about their admission procedure. A fee regulation is essential.I would say parents should go to schools that do not take donations for new admissions. No doubt we encourage bribery. We should stop giving donations and complain those erring schools. If we give we are equally to be blamed for.

Parent can file an online complaint with DOE against the schools who are asking donation and schools not disclosing the breakup points against each criteria and schools who come with general category list without EWS list.

Parents can give a helping hand to make the system transparent along with our founder Mr.Sumit Vohra.

There is Rs75000 as resource fund in Venkateshwar Global, Rohini. This is one time payment non refundable. When i asked them what it is actually  ...security, donation etc?...they didnt have a answer...they just said it is a resource fund.....

Maxfort too have a amount around 45000/-......everyone knows it but not complaining for the fear of their ward admission.....

Neither DOE Nor Govt Will do anything abt donation because believe it or not, they also have a cut in this donation amount.

I completely agree, in the name  of guidelines all they are doing is forcing parents to shell out more money.....and they know parents will adhere to it...atleast many...

VERY CORRECT EVERYBODY IS HAND IN GLOVES IN THIS BUISNESS OF MINTING MONEY

what to do. the matter is related with life of child. cannot comprmise wth quality so look for good schools. I think no way out than just nodding to schools of choice

WE SHOULD NOT FALL PREY TO THESE GREEDY SCHOOLS. I WOULD REQUEST NURSERY ADMISSION TEAM, AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF ALL PRARENTS, TO TAKE UP THIS MATTER WITH DOE AS THIS DONATION AMOUNT IS EXHORBITANT AND AGAINST SECTION 13 OF RTE ACT

the schools do it.it should b made a rule to jail the concerned person asking for donation.then nobody even in pressure of the heads may dare do that.online fee structure and given in the admission form should b made mandatory.

every school is demanding the donations for the nursery admissions starting from 50,000 to 1-2 lacs. The amount depends upon your points also. As Ryan international , rohini is demanding 50,000 from parents of sibling and they can demand more from other parents of general category. Wht to do , u can't decide as this the matter of our child's career, if you don't reserve the seat by paying money then may be there will not be any seat in any good school for your child, its risky.
