Delhi: Plethora of admission forms annoying parents of tiny tots
Concerns range from which forms to carry to calculating distance between home and school accurately.

In the last leg of the registration process for this year’s nursery admission drill, parents of tiny tots in the Capital are finding themselves lost amid a melee of forms.

With just three days to go for the registration process to come to an end, the cloud of confusion is looming around a number of concerns ranging from which forms to carry during the admission process to calculating the distance accurately.

Rajeev Bhalla, father of a nursery applicant who has been able to fill forms for just four schools, posted a query on the online portal seeking details of schools which allow admission online without asking for submission of documents physically. Bhalla, one among the aggrieved, has asked,

“Please suggest a list of schools doing online registrations only, without submitting hard copy during the registration process, as very few days are left till the last date of submission of forms at the schools. I could manage to submit only four forms till date.”

Experts monitoring the admission process have pointed out that schools allowing registration of a child online have asked for physical verification of the forms.

According to Sumit Vohra, founder of admissionsnursery. com, an online community of more than 1.25 lakh guardians, parents are opting for the online application process to save time, but physical verification of forms is keeping them on their toes.

“Since parents cannot apply in one school and sit back, they are preferring schools which ask for online application, but we are inundated with queries of submission of forms physically,” Vohra said.

Ameeta Mohan, principal of Amity International School, Pushp Vihar, said the measure is taken for smooth sailing of parents in the admission process.

“Along with several forms, we need residence proof. At times, when the documents are submitted online, the proofs provided are slightly doubtful and cannot be relied upon. In such a situation, physical submission of documents is a medium of reliable verification,” she said.

“According to the point system, we need to calculate the distance of the applicants’ homes and our school. We have to ensure accuracy from our end.”

Distance, commonly referred to as neighbourhood criteria, prevails ubiquitously in the Capital’s admission process. It allows maximum marks to the applicant falling in a residential area proximate to the school.

“Parents need to understand that this is just to provide them with a greater degree of transparency in the admission process,” Mohan said. Experts have advised that parents must carry hard copies of important documents so as to avoid cancellation of their wards’ admission.
