I was just trying to visualise a communication between students of school, college etc
Scene -
Students talking - A conversation between St Columba's students "Yaar Shahrukh Apne school ka pass out hai".
Parents talking -Parents within their circle - Mera beta us school me padhta hai jahan se Shahruk khan padha hai..
(This is mostly true for all schools, colleges, inst. Be it Amitabh in KMC, XYZ in some or the other school or college)
As few parents said that it is the matter of pride that their kids got to X school (Best school). Who made these schools?? Were alumnis important?? Everyone showcases the alumni strength to build on the reputation of the school. For me just like teachers, policies, administrations, principal etc even alumni are important ingredient in making the school. Talk to any school and they will tell you what role has alumni played in building stature of the school.. You are fighting for a school because alumnis of those schools have reached somewhere in their life..
Many students have passed out from a school/college but very few achieve big things and these people are leveraged forever in every conversation by school, students, parents etc.
When someone make strong argument against sibling convenience/logistics is the prime reason.
People always ask which is the good school.. What is the criteria under consideration?
1) Infrastructure 2) Extra-curricular 3) Management 4) Past records ?? (Is it one of the criterias that what is the track record of the school?) 5) many others may be..
I am not trying to validate alumni point but my concern is the way parents are talking crap about this criteria. Aren't they alumni of a school? Even I am from some school but I want my son to study in some other school but have no option due to these guidelines. But I have no complaints against the guidelines. It could have been raised 3 months back. Which no one did.
(Pls note that I am not trying to support or oppose any criteria.. As I have been emphasising on my various posts.. For me whatever is the criteria should have been challenged in Dec and not now)

Shruti, i second your thoughts completely. The strenghts of alumni is leveraged by all and when it comes to offering a seat to their child people reverse their logics! Secondly and MOST IMPORTANTLY, some people are making a mockery of our whole judiciary system as anyone and everyone is filing a PIL at any time of the year ( irrespective of the session start date) and think it will be heard. Our kids are suffering in all these fights. Now these children will be sitting at home for next one and a half months at least, and their siblings would be going to schools.....pathetic!
@ Preeti - Guess you didn't read comments of super educated parents here. For them, it is not a big deal if a kid loses a month or 2 since they are looking at a broader picture of 15 years. Really fail to understand what are they trying to achieve. I really don't know if these PILs have any objective as it is all on guess work.
New Guidelines for Nursery Admission, issued on 28th Feb 2014 was the wise decision taken by Hon'ble court and LG. Only fraudsters who has done cheating should be penalized under 420 not OTHERs.
Let the session to start as it already being delay, no more PIL because there is no end of these PILs'.
Why on earth you are not able to see what is happening around? It is not a cinema going around of Shahrukh or Amitabh it is the like fight for oxygen. Understand why people are fighting for capping alumni point (I am not for full scrapping). In current situation when there is no slabbed distance point 70 pointer are left like being from 3rd world. The fight is for equality and not for a top graded school. Even below average schools the situation is very tough.
And now i must remind all alumni to regard your school and teacher who moulded a personality out of you. Stop boasting that you have given status to school. Be you sharukh or Amitabh bow to your school and teachers instead of taking credit that you have given something special to school.
Bottom line is fight is for justice and as far as injustice will have a way around the fight will come back.
For ground fact statistic follow and see the horror story so that you can decide which ide you support.
ABCD do you know about the 8 km distance limit in guideline? I will look in that limit in my area only and 8 km travel is a dirty thing for small kids.. practically that should be 4 km. Now can you help me in finding good statistics for 70 pointers in any good school if i reside side by salwann pusa road? Please don't just write anything, think about it practically.
I mentioned bal bharati only coz it has most seats in my area and is good school. Want to look for stats of Springdales pusa/kirti, St thomas, salwan? Or go to St Columbas, Jesus & Marry etc ?
So then why not challenge the 8 KM guideline?? I am sure most parents would want to send their kid to good schools irrespective of distance. Alternatively, why not file a PIL to change the distance criteria to different slabs? Why the obsession with alumni points? Isn't that herd mentality? All I am saying is that challenging any one criteria will not guarantee admission to everyone because the fundamental problem is that demand far out numbers supply. I would think that this is practical thinking.
Best solution in current situation is to redo everything from scratch ..this guideline and the outcome have turned out such a fiasco and having nature of cancer..treat one thing and another illness will occur. No force can stop people from fighting for justice. Anyway court will decide the best for this year and next year the things must be sorted properly.
Hell o unjust system... what you have done. And listen i am not for full scrapping of alumni ..i am for a cap on it. Are not alumni people herd minded ? ?
