Just a thought on Alumni ans its argument. May not mean anything to most of the parents here
I was just trying to visualise a communication between students of school, college etc
Scene -
Students talking - A conversation between St Columba's students "Yaar Shahrukh Apne school ka pass out hai".
Parents talking -Parents within their circle - Mera beta us school me padhta hai jahan se Shahruk khan padha hai..
(This is mostly true for all schools, colleges, inst. Be it Amitabh in KMC, XYZ in some or the other school or college)
As few parents said that it is the matter of pride that their kids got to X school (Best school). Who made these schools?? Were alumnis important?? Everyone showcases the alumni strength to build on the reputation of the school. For me just like teachers, policies, administrations, principal etc even alumni are important ingredient in making the school. Talk to any school and they will tell you what role has alumni played in building stature of the school.. You are fighting for a school because alumnis of those schools have reached somewhere in their life..
Many students have passed out from a school/college but very few achieve big things and these people are leveraged forever in every conversation by school, students, parents etc.
When someone make strong argument against sibling convenience/logistics is the prime reason.
People always ask which is the good school.. What is the criteria under consideration?
1) Infrastructure 2) Extra-curricular 3) Management 4) Past records ?? (Is it one of the criterias that what is the track record of the school?) 5) many others may be..
I am not trying to validate alumni point but my concern is the way parents are talking crap about this criteria. Aren't they alumni of a school? Even I am from some school but I want my son to study in some other school but have no option due to these guidelines. But I have no complaints against the guidelines. It could have been raised 3 months back. Which no one did.
(Pls note that I am not trying to support or oppose any criteria.. As I have been emphasising on my various posts.. For me whatever is the criteria should have been challenged in Dec and not now)

For the record - i am not an "alumni person". I am a 70 pointer but unlike you who wants everything to start from scratch, i want to see the end of this process asap. We are not even allowing the first lists to come out....don't you think that there would be a chance for us in the 2nd and 3 rd lists? Also I do feel for the selected children who have got through based on an agreed set of guidelines. Why should a selected child suffer?? Hence I support no further changes in guidelines. See the repercussions of challenging TC criteria - we have been left in the lurch. So stop playing the LG/DOE and give the process a chance! And the treatment of the cancer is not a re-draw - treatment of cancer (which is always long drawn) is to increase the number of "good" schools and start second shifts etc.

Till now i have supported that all base 70 pointer elected should remain selected. I did not file any PIL to cancel those, i was/am ready to accept what is in destined for me.
I already know about the long term solution of nursery admission and i have posted various alternative in my earlier post already(PPP, SWA , double shift, increase infra in existing).
I used cancer terminology in sense where a cancer is simply not treatable and amputation is the only known solution to doctors. To me the current situation seems a match as for any pil there are anti-pil and the system is in hang.
I am not in favour of many PIL and delay but this kind of unjust system forces me to be vocal and supportive to that. If there was distance point in slabs, there was no need to fight against alumni as distance slab would have nullified it for most parents and it could not have termed GROSSLY BIASED.
Fight is not for a sigle kid, it is for a better justified system which is digestible !

Don't forget - you also called alumni convicts in an earlier post. Am not a lawyer but would really want to know if an alum can file a PIL against you for personal vilification. NO MORE CHANGE TO GUIDELINES. WE SUPPORT STATUS QUO

Can you highlight which of my wording termed an alumni convict? If someone is convict then it is judiciary which has done, where does i figure in the scene and to whom i have made a personal comment? Not even to you!

Dear ABCD, fully agree with you, there should not be re-draw. In my view guidelines issued on 26 feb. 2014 were justified and practicle. In addition, only fake transfer case should be punished, not others.

Starting a month late is NOT making session delay by 1 year. Please understand that this is a nursery class not IIT semester

Ms. Deepti, how you are assuming admitted kids would be delayed by 1 year? It may be one moth late for those who are selected and is not very big issue as next year they will be promoted to next class.
The situation you are describing is the misery of odd 3rd world 70 pointers, whose full career would be affected if not admitted this year! Are you talking about 70 pointers or 75/90/95 pointers?

Rahul, why have you woken up now after thee months when the guidelines were issued.
You want everything to start from scratch. How funny. you don't want the kids to go to school this year.
There have been lot many PIL's one after the other, and there is no end to it.
Pls put an end to this. No school is good / Bad, we make it by our thinking.
we as parents play the most important role in the child's development.
let the procecc now complete.

Alumnis are important that's why quotas are required...not all alumnus were shah rukh khan .. And doesn't a spot boy's child has the right to become the next khan.. Just think over it

Great shot Rahul...He he count those alumni too who are decorating the corrupt political positions and beautiful jails..he he.. Why not count those alumni?
Bottom line is fight is for justice and as far as injustice will have a way around the fight will come back.
