I am not sure if they will inform over phone, but you can give it a try. While reading through some of the posts in this group, I think I read somewhere that they will confirm the name if you call them.

They are sending letters to selected candidates. If your kid was selected you should have get a letter.

22nd Feb is last date for document verification.
