Mount Carmel Schools run Classes from Nursery to XII. Admissions are done at three different levels.

Time of Announcement for Admission to different classes :

Nur & Prep Classes : awaiting DOE announcements.
February/March      :
Classes I to IX
March / April           : Class XI - for external candidates.

No admission is granted in Classes X and XII.

(a) Nursery : At this level there are 120 vacancies every year. Age requirement for Nursery is 4/4+ years as on 30th September of the year of Admission/Session. The students are selected under the following categories:

  1. General category by draw.

  2. Siblings by selection.

  3. Economically weaker section - for those drawing less than Rs. 1,00,000/- per annum, by selection

  4. Special category for Staff, Alumni and Christians

(b) Preparatory : One section of 40 students is present at a preparatory level. Selection is done by a test under the same categories as for Nursery. Age requirement for Prep. is 5/5+ years as on 30th September of the year of Admission/Session.

(c) Other Classes : Admission depends upon the availability of seats in the desired Class. Children are registered for various Classes at the school office usually in February. At the time of registration they are given the date for the admission test and also a copy of the syllabus. The admission test is held in Feb/March. Names of children who qualify for admission are put up on the school notice board within a week. Parents are expected to check the results personally.

Class IX : Only children from recognized schools, producing a certificate of having passed Class VIII and of clearing a third language in Class VIII are eligible for the entrance test after the registration. The school transfer certificate counter signed by appropriate authority is required.

Class XI : Registration opens in March and provisional admission is given on the basis of marks obtained in the Preboard Exam and an interview held in the school. The admission is confirmed only after the declaration of the Board result.

The second lot of interviews and admissions takes place after the declaration of the Board result subject to the availability of seats. Students admitted in June are expected to attend extra Classes to cover the initial one month's course before Classes start in July.
