NEIGHBOURHOOD POINTS NO GUARANTEE FOR ADMISSION
NEW DELHI: The nursery admission guidelines that gave neighbourhood the upper hand in nursery admissions may have brought a smile on the faces of many parents. But despite getting 70 points, admission in a school of their choice is going to be very tough.
Based on analysis of data posted by schools on their websites, it has become clear that staying close to a school will give parents a very small window of opportunity for admission and that admission is very difficult for those single children whose parents are migrants.
At Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, for example, of the 130 nursery seats on offer, there are 127 parents who have scored 75 points or more. This leaves 1,426 applicants with 70 points for three seats.
At DPS East of Kailash, of the 117 seats on offer, 79 will be filled by those who have more than 75 points. For the remaining 38 seats a lottery will be held among 308 students who have secured 75 points.
The figures also contain duplicate applications, a feature that is sure to be repeated across schools.(Sumit Vohra)

How long this qota raj? Why extra points? If you have been transferred to Delhi .it's fine .you should be treated at par with those living here. But why Older resident should give away their right . why our children should leave the field for newcomers. Come with us and share the opportunity but govt is treating newcomers like first class citizens and those already residing as second or third class. Any reason why?

i think now its too late to even talk about staggering points of distance, we can only request about checking the authenticity of transfer cases and limit it to 6months , and that too if the transferred parents have already an elder child studying in a Delhi school they shouldn't be given any extra points for transfer.

Ok, will write with transfer only. Don't want to introduce complications of elder child etc because then, people will say the child was with grandparents and so on. Let's keep it simple. Let's ask for last 90 days and verification for suspicion. And hopefully, lots of these cases vanish. The genuine ones should in any case now get the benefit.
Guys, should I then send this letter.

I agree with sakshi.. the letter should be focused on one point which is the biggest issue-- transfer points. Otherwise it is very long, people will say you want everything to change and there your letter will lose its impact.

I agree. Simple and straight. No complications. Transfer points for non NCR, only 90 days and last, in case of suspicion, to be verified with additional documentation. I will ship this out

Well written...but think we shud stick to NCR issue and stringent guidelines for doc verification for these interstate cases....guess no point touching distance as its been validated by courts..LG office can issue new notification for clarification on interstate.. Pls write to LG with CC to DOE and CM ... .regards

In the last 90 days there will be more transfer frauds..as these maybe have got the idea only after the guild lines are published.Once they came to know about abolishment of management quota...they try to take advantage of the transfer point.Genuine transfer cases should consider after April as in March2013 the admission process was over for session2013-2014 in delhi...and maybe till october whn the admission process for 2014-2015 is over in the NCR region .

Ok, thanks for all the suggestions. I will focus only on transfer point. And write to doe and lg as virk suggests. Also, don't want to change 90 days as I have already asked for verification. I can't say don't allow last 90 days because from the govt perspective, those cases need maximum help. Don't forget, govt guys will have maximum transfers.

Manish not only govt guys lots of diplomats also have come. So better stick to the basics and a clear message from Doe has to go as I wrote yesterday that NCR cases need not be treated as transfer case and proper mechanism of verification and list of documents needs to be made . So the request from all of us is that they need to define the interstate transfers properly and proper mechanism for verification has to be in place because of these supposedly fraudulent cases the genuine transfer cases for which this criteria was made is also getting affected and the purpose is getting defeated ( it is another debate whether these transfer points are justified or not and at this stage no need to argue on that )
The other two issues will hold no grounds as alumni point one is getting only in one school and regarding distance court has already maintained the position that aerial distance of 8 kms can be taken and it is school discretion whether to take road or aerial and all the schools have already notified their catchment area well in advance and dps had given the maps too during registration process only . I really appreciate the transparency DPS have adopted unlike other schools.
So be direct and attack only (dont dilute the case) on the transfer points for delhi NCR transfers and how to verify the same and believe me in all school 50 odd cases will go. Genuine and honest people should not suffer.

Can anyone help in importing all lists from dps eok / vv into MS excel.. Pls sort them alphabetically name wise... You will get to know how many double triple or more entries are made by several entrants... Should not they hv been nullified as claimed by the schools previously?? Why have they considered them in drawing lottery?????

Dear Manish, I just want to say one thing that you cannot satisfield everyone at one time. Peoples have lots of expectations, everyone wants to take admission in reputed school but its limited. I am agreed wth u. Waise bhi some peoples are creating panic amongest parents since its not big issue for eg. nearely there are 100 cases of inter state tranfer in one area and i think everyone has filled their form for every school, but it is a fact that they would take admission in only one school after that approx 300 and more seats for every area would be empty. so i request the peoples to not create panic..it would be clear in second list.
