Form Dates | Admission Criteria | Results | Fee Details | List of All Schools
NEW DELHI: With schools now set to release forms for nursery admissions from next week and guidelines now set in stone, parents have raised fresh queries over some of the criteria including definitions of a parent-alumnus.
While the parent-alumni criteria carries 5 points according to the guidelines issued by the Delhi government, parents claimed that the definition of the criteria remained unclear.
While some schools considered parents as “alumni” for having completed class 12 from a school, others allocated points to parents who had left the school after class 10.
“I went to a school in east Delhi, only to be told that I don’t count as an alumnus since I had only done my class 12 from that school. There is no clarity on that front because they had permitted parents who had left the school after completing class 10, to be categorised as alumni,” said a parent.
Even the interstate transfer criteria was being moulded according to individual schools’ discretion, with international transfer cases being turned away.
“I had moved to India in October, from South Korea. Even though interstate transfer criteria of schools allocate five points, I was told that since it’s a transfer from abroad, I’m not eligible for those points,” said Mohit Khurana.
However, prominent schools in the city claimed that both criteria had been clearly defined, with no room for confusion.
“Most schools, including ours, consider a person to be an alumnus if they have completed their class 12 from the school. We don’t consider students who had left before completing their schooling,” said Usha Ram, principal, Laxman Public School.
“As far as interstate transfers go, most schools take into account transfers of all kinds, including those from abroad. However, the parents need to produce a certificate and justify that,” Ram added.
However, parents stated that they would move higher authorities to get greater clarity on the matter.

but this year we are getting many queries as parents want their twin to go in same school. So is it possible to make some guidelines for twins or not as being Blanket Point System .school cannot deviate.

Yes confusion on both these category still exists among parents. DOE should come with clear definition and instructions to schools well in advance in reply to the complaint filed by Mr.Vohra a week before.
Dear Sumit Ji,
Alumni in my opinion should be for passing out Class X or Class XII as these two classes are still being considered for various courses/obtaining documents like Passport/Driving License etc. Alumni should consider children of their parents and grandparents.
For Transfer, once it is stated "Inter-State Transfer" should be from 1.1.2013 to 31.1.2014 (benefit goes to last day transfer cases also). I hope it should not be from 1.4.2013 (this may again create confusion on account of academic session which ends 31.3.2014, a date of no use for Nursery admissions).
Academic session may be taken into account for other classes.
Ms Divya Manchanda,
Your point is genuine and to me it should be accepted and agreed to by the Ministry. All the best.
@Gyan Saurabh : Can you please provide email address of Mr. Sisodia . Thanks in advance
