THE Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to the Delhi government on a plea challenging its right to fix pre- primary admission schedule for the academic year 2010- 2011.

The Action Committee of Unaided Private Schools contended that the right to decide the dates lay with the schools according to an interim order passed by the apex court on December 14, 2007.

Though a bench comprising Chief Justice K. G. Balakrishnan and Justice B. S. Chauhan agreed to consider their grievance, it refused to stay the operation of the order issued by the state government.

On being pointed out that the application would become meaningless after the admission process, the court ordered posting of the matter for urgent hearing next week.

The apex court had passed the interim order on a pending special leave petition against a Delhi High Court order on nursery admissions. y
