Nursery admission for my speech delayed daughter

Dear Members

My only girl child is unable to speak.

Her DOB is 18 Jan 2012.

We got her admitted in play school in July 2014 and she was there till March 2015. We anticipated that she would speak but she did not.

April 2015 we got her admitted in to another small school in neighborhood in Nursery the school is up to KG only & she is going there. But till now she is unable to speak. We have seen many doctors but we did not got any satisfactory response for our questions like why is she not speaking & when would she start speaking.

In the admission year 2015 we did not got her admitted in proper school because of 2 reasons though she was eligible for admission.

1) she was not speaking

2) we thought that we shall get her admitted in proper school whenever she would start speaking.

Now we are in the fix for 2 reasons

1) she is outside the upper age of admission in nursery fixed by Govt.( 4 year as on 31st march 2016) she would be 4 years 2 months and 13 days crossing the upper age limit fixed.

2) We want to get her admitted in proper school in Nursery in coming academic year of 2016-2017. would she be able to get admission in nursery.She is outside minimum age and not a normal speaking child. Should we opt for special education or normal education for her.

We have started vising AIMS for finding the reason for her not speaking it is in process.

Kindly suggest what can we do.

Hi Anant,

My daughter also has speech delay. She uttered her first few words not before 3 yrs. So, i would strongly suggest you to consult a good Child Psychologist or Child development pediatrician for further guidance and get her diagnosed.

To name a few in Delhi -

1. Dr. Praveen Suman (Sir Ganga Ram hospital)

2. Dr. Madhumati Bose (Sunder lal jain hospital)

Upper cut off age in nursery for spl children is not 4yrs
Pls see circular from doe for upper cut off age for spl children with different type of problems
