Nursery Admissions DEC 3 - Hindustan Times  Delhi parents look for seats in NCR

After the Delhi High Court scrapped government norms for nursery admissions, allowing private unaided schools to frame their own guidelines, parents from Delhi have started approaching Gurgaon schools for admissions.

They are worried that the litigation might continue for months, delaying the start of the academic session. When the verdict was announced by Delhi HC, Anupama Singh, a resident of Malviya Nagar in Delhi started searching schools in Gurgaon for her daughter.

“With no government regulation, the schools in Delhi will form their own regulations, giving them the upper hand. It will take the same time if my daughter commutes to Gurgaon or to a school in South Delhi. If we get admission in Delhi, we can withdraw her from the Gurgaon school,” she said.

“It’s possible that schools will give priority to sibling and alumni. Very few  seats will be left for the first born child. Hence, parents are playing safe by blocking seats in NCR,” said Sumit Vohra, founder, admissionsnursery.com http://admissionsnursery.com/
Some Delhi schools are awarding extra points to parents who are vegetarian or teetotaller, children of foreign nationals, NRIs and sibling studying in the same school.


“We already have students coming in from South Delhi with our buses plying on several routes in Delhi. We are receiving enquires. With the HC verdict, we hope more parents would be interested in enrolling in our school,” said Ruchi Pant, head (communication and admission), Pathways School, Gurgaon.

“Admission process in Delhi is fraught with confusion. This is making parents look for options in NCR. We are seeing a gradual movement towards Gurgaon. We met some parents who were even willing to shift base to Gurgaon to provide good schooling for their children,” said Sunitha Nambiar, program director, Kunskapsskolan School, DLF 1.
