Supreme Court said on Wednesday. It also held that there was no need to provide the 12-digit unique identification number for school admissions.

May be this query has been answered before, but i would like to understand few things about the waiting list:
1. How come for some schools, waiting list is too short. Today i attended DOL for a school with 34 pending seats (after deducting sure shot admissions). Apart from 34 selected seats, they opted to have waiting list for only 26. Why such small number for waiting list. The school is in a location where within proximity of 1 km, there are 6-7 more schools. Surely they cant expect 34 open seats to be filled with 60 students!
2. My sense with point 1 is that the seats left with after accommodating 60 students from the waiting are "open" for donation. Whoever try hard may get it. Open for suggestions from parents who have tried before.
3. If the school has 34 open seats, and lets say 10 drop out, then which 10 out of 24 waiting list will get the preference?. There seems to be no preference order given for waiting list. What if there are more than 10 from 24 who want to take admission. Again open for responses/suggestions
Parents are requested to share inputs.
@AGupta: Lots of questions.....Phew...Here we go
#1. How come for some schools, waiting list is too short : Waiting is directly proportional to the popularity and the trend followed by school from past years.
#2. Apart from 34 selected seats, they opted to have waiting list for only 26. Why such small number for waiting list : 26 Sounds to be a reasonable. Few schools just have 5 waiting. This reflects the faith they & parents have in their institution.
#3. My sense with point 1 is that the seats left with after accommodating 60 students from the waiting are "open" for donation : Nopes. Donations seats are different and fall under the belt of Management Quota. These are general fair draw. For MQ refer to the end of this reply.
#4. If the school has 34 open seats, and lets say 10 drop out, then which 10 out of 24 waiting list will get the preference : The preference will be given in the same order in which their names were being called.
#5: What if there are more than 10 from 24 who want to take admission : Hard Luck is the only two words I have for them.
MQ quota you are talking about is a topic of debate. It's totally on school discretion which route they follow. Just to give you any idea... These are few process via which schools fill their MQ
1. Letters and applications: The lucky ones... From past few years we have seen schools accepting letters and application mentioning your interest in schools. And few schools have come up with positive response in this case... Though a cumbersome task but can be very fruitful if your child fate's written in golden words
2. Jack and Approaches: The rare ones... Well I guess the name said everything.... If you have any jack/connection to a big fish in your circle.... consider your work done. Only problem is ... The percentage of such cases is too small to discuss and you cannot be dependent just on this.
3. Donations: The Unpopular ones....There have been scenarios where parents filling more than 20 forms dont secure a single seat. And in Delhi..... its not a hidden fact... that school do have a backdoor. You just need to have a genuine source for it.
Just in case you dont find your dream school....I recommend you to go for these approaches in the same order.
PS:
Category #1: You can start as early as of now.
Category #2 & #3: Yes you are lagging a bit for them but its never too late. You might want to get in touch with someone reliable
Thanks for the detailed response. Much appreciated.
1 & 2 - I somehow find it difficult to get over the fact that they need only 60 students to fill in 34 seats given the competition around that area. But i am sure they do look at past trends.
3 - I am not sure i agree with this. I have already been approached by a school where my ward is wait listed and they are happy to consider admission for an "extra amount"
4. Got it. that was useful.
MQ 1. Yes, we are starting this process from tomorrow.
MQ 3 . Not 20, but we filled 13. So far 2 waitlisted and 2 results awaited. Rest no luck!
There is a waiting list for 45 and 40 pointers also. Posted on salwans website
Even my child name is in the waiting list of salwan
I dont have the list of bbps as i reached there more than half draw was over....but with God's grace my child is selected in BBPS dol
Congratulations and Thanks for helping parents :)
