School admission uphill task for parents
New Delhi: Nursery admission has become a nightmarish experience for parents in the national capital, as it is proving an uphill task for them to fulfill the guidelines for enrolling their wards in schools. So, parents are depending more on management quota for enrolling their wards in the schools.
The miseries of the parents could be gauged from the fact that they are unable to reach even 50 percent of the points set by schools for admission. In absence of schools in their localities, they will get less point. Parents could lose alumni and sibling points, if they or their any ward have not ever studied in the same school.
For getting points under management quota (20 to 30 points), they have to give donations to the schools. School authorities rebuff getting donations from parents though, they unofficially accept that fund is needed for development and boosting infrastructure.
Most parents are scoring less in five categories like alumni, single parents, sibling quota, single girl, single child etc.

Schools know very well and well equipped for getting a lumpsum of donation with a simple technique of management quota. Really pathetic situation for parents which was well planned by school lobby, DOE, EM and CM of Delhi.
It is really pathetic condition. Now people can better understand that management quota is nothing but sophisticated form of corruption.
While being a parent I understand the problem at hand but we have to realize that running a school is no charity. It is business at the end of the day. Besides, you have relatives of school mgmt, even school staff, which are seats ideally given out of the mgmt quote only.
There will never be a perfect situation. But at least lets me thankful it is better than before when everything was mgmt quota :)
Jaspreet - there is a separate 5% quota for school staff children. This is from General quota - not Management quota. Relatives of school management would also ideally come from General quota. Schools (logically) would want to get donations against Management quota. Hence, this would be the only quota where a "fair" selection can be virtually assured! We are talking only about Nursery admissions here where admissions used to be quite easy earlier on (in Delhi). Of course for higher classes, every seat is still Management quota :)
Indeed, the donations are the issue in the mgmt quota. But I wonder when was admissions an easier process. At least it is transparent now, well, relatively.
Schools are playing very smart. Last to last year when schools were giving points to Parents qualification, the RTE asked schools to eliminate this point as this is screening of parents qualification. .... SCHOOLS started giving 35-45 points to ALUMNI. which again means giving points to parent qualification...
... School was earlier considering the parents income for admission of kids.. RTE asked to eliminate this point.. SCHOOLS STARTED giving 25-35 points to sibling... Which agains means if one child is coming to a particular schools that means selection of kids from GOOD FAMILIES having GOOD Income....... SCHOOLS ARE VERY INTELLEGENT and RTE is USELESS.........
Where would the other parents go who have not studied in public school or having only one kid...
Parents again this year will see the face of failure for the admission of their kid if not scoring point for ALUMNI, SIBLING, GIRL CHILD, TRANSFER or SINGLE Parent.... ONLY Points for distance will not get you the admission for your son/daughter...
I really appreciate the efforts of Mr Sumit VOhra as lots many things have been improved because of his efforts.. BUT we have to keep fighting till the things totally improved....
