Hi Sakshi, The Indian School and Birla Vidya Niketan are deliberately forcing the parents to buy prospectus with form for Rs.350. Is it allowed by DOE?

Every year we have more applicants than seats available, therefore inability of the candidates to secure a seat is in no way a reflection of his/her caliber. Final admission is subject to verification of the following documents (in original):

EWS & DISADVANTAGED GROUP

25% of the total available seats mandated under the RTE Act will be offered to EWS/Disadvantaged Group Category. In case the number of applications exceeds the number of seats available, there will be a draw of lots to select the candidates. All eligible candidates who fulfill the criteria prescribed by the government can apply through the common application form for admission under free ship quota. The form is available on www.edudel.nic.in and a hard copy of the same can also be procured from the school office as per schedule.

GENERAL CATEGORY

In accordance with the guidelines issued by the government and keeping in view the ethos and philosophy of the Modern School, admission under this category will be based on the following 100 point criteria.

•Alumni Criteria – 30 points (maximum)
•Sibling Criteria – 20 points
•Neighborhood Criteria - 30 points (maximum)
•First born child - 10 points
•Single Parent – 10 points

IMPORTANT: Due to limitation of seats available, the school will not be able to offer admission to children of all applicant alumni and sibling cases. The school will however offer at least 15% of the general category seats to candidates who are neither under the alumni category nor the sibling category.

STAFF CHILDREN

No points will be awarded to applicants under the staff children category. Only the permanent members of staff of Modern School Vasant Vihar have a right to apply for admission of their children. In case the number of applications exceeds the number of seats available, selections for the current session will be made through a draw of lots. If the number of applications received in this category is less than the seats available, the remaining seats will be offered to the grand children of the retired staff. However such seats will be treated as fully paid seats. In case of any seats still remaining vacant in this category they will be transferred to the general category.

SCHOOL MANAGEMENT’S DISCRETIONARY QUOTA

Under the permission of the Delhi Government, 20% seats are reserved for the management of the school. The management is free to offer these seats at their discretion.

•Application Forms will be available from 2nd January 2012 to 16th January 2012.
•The Common Admission Form for the children of EWS and Disadvantaged Group prescribed by the Directorate of Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi will be made available for parents applying under Free ship Quota at the school office on the dates mentioned above. •Forms in respect of all other categories will be available on the school website www.modernschoolvv.com on the dates mentioned above. The same may be downloaded and completed.
•Duly completed application forms for all categories will be accepted in the school office from 2nd January 2012 to 16th January 2012 (working days only) from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Incomplete forms will not be accepted.

3.Applicants under Disadvantaged Group need to produce a Certificate issued by a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar or any other Competent Authority or Caste Certificate issued by DC Office.
