Following in the footsteps of Gurgaon schools, prominent private schools in Noida too have started nursery admissions, almost a month prior to the schedule followed until last year. The absence of any regulatory body to govern nursery admissions in the city has resulted in schools choosing their own schedules, leaving parents confused.

Somerville School in Sector 22 and Vishwa Bharti Public School in Sector 28 started registrations for nursery classes on July 25. On the other hand, admissions to Delhi Public School (DPS) in Sector 30, which started on June 22 , have closed.

“The admission process started early and has closed now. We have started sending mails to parents for counselling sessions,” said Sultanat Khan, media coordinator for DPS Noida.

According to parents, early admissions are leaving them with fewer options.

“DPS is one of the most sought-after schools in Noida. We had decided to start checking school websites from July-end. It came as a shock to us that admissions for DPS had already closed on July 25. We have now applied to other prominent schools,” said Kshitij Sareen of Sector 25, Noida.

Amity International School in Sector 44 is expected to start admissions by the first week of August, while Ryan International School in Sector 39 has not yet started admissions.

“We are yet to arrive at the dates for nursery admissions though it is expected that the registration process will be started by mid-August,” said Anuradha Sharma, principal, Ryan International School.

Similarly, in Ghaziabad, schools are yet to start their nursery admissions.

“I will be applying at all schools in Noida and Ghaziabad for my daughter. It is confusing to see schools in Noida opening admissions while those in Ghaziabad are yet to do so,” said Manisha Goyal of Indirapuram.

Amity International School in Vasundhara and Vishwa Bharati Public School, Ghaziabad branch, will start admissions by August 1.

Seth Anandram Jaipuriya School in Vasundhara will start their process from August 16.

“There has been no shift in our schedule for nursery admissions and we will start admissions from the third week of August,” said Sangeeta Hajela, vice principal of DPS Indirapuram, Ghaziabad.
