Even though several measures have been taken by the government under the Right to Education Act, several parents of twin children are concerned about getting admission to them in the same nursery school as no clear guidelines have been given in the LG's order.
Sonu Goel, a resident of West Patel Nagar, and a father of twin boys, said, since their birth, they are inseparable. And now because of the point system, he is worried whether they would be admitted in the same school.
"I will apply at Salwan School, Springdales or Cambridge for admission to the twins but I am afraid, there might not be any column in the school form to show that they are twins," he said.
Another parent of twin children said, "This year no policy has been made regarding admission of twins in the pre-primary level, and so we are worried as no body wants their children who are of the same age and same habits to study in two different schools."
Some parents also complained about lack of response from the Directorate of Education (DoE) on the clear picture of admission of twins in the pre-primary level. "We are hoping that the policy would be favourable to the twins who are not even identical, say one is a boy and another a girl," said a parent.
I enquired about the provision of points to twins in admission, but nobody seemed to be aware of this," said Goel.
According to the DoE, girl children will get extra five points. "As a result what would happen if my daughter gets admission in one school and my son in another school. My main concern is to get both of them admitted in the same school and the thought of getting admission in different schools is worrying me a lot," said a parent.
Till last year, many schools gave first child point to the twins and if one child had got selected through lottery system, the other one also got admission, but this year, there is no such provision.
"This year we are getting many queries after the issuance of guidelines of LG as parents want their twins to go to the same school. So, in my letter to DoE, I suggested if it is possible to make some guidelines for twins," said Mr Sumit Vohra, founder of an online forum for parents seeking nursery admission for their children, also Chairprson of NGO-Education For All~V R ONE.

So far, many schools consider twin admission by default. This year, the scene may change and the discussion is valid. Government should think and pass an order for default admission.
also what will happen to first child and that too a boy?
No points this year for that
As Mr.Vohra has already raised this issue DOE should pass an order in twin case in favour of twins.
Even I have twin children. A girl and and a boy. I am worried after reading this.
I also have twin boys and we are very much worried about this. Some guidelines should be issued by DOE before the admission process begins on 15th Jan. 2014
I have the same concern as I have twin daughters, and the worry of not getting both admitted in same school is driving me nuts. I have asked in some schools and no one is aware of any guidelines regarding this. There surely be some specified guidelines for twins admission, when siblings are considered for admission in the same schools, then this is a big worry for parents of twins if the kids are not admitted in same school. The Director of Education should surely state special guidelines for the admission of twin kids in same school.
I have twin boys too, Government should understand the concern of parents and understand what the child will go thru if they are separated from one another, It would be my humble request to DOE to pass such rule for twins [either boys or girls] to get admission in same school.
twin are get admission in the same school, why? why they get extra marks? if twins will admitted in the same school the marks of children who are single will come short. my son is going to a school in dwarka and the distance between my house to his school is 9 KM. I will get only 20 marks for sibling. I will have to face the same problem, my daughter get the admission in different school because she merely get 20 marks for sibling. Sibling parents like me will go to different school for PTM, cultural function etc. we also loss the point as girl child.
I think sibling will be give more preference than neighbourhood because it is more convenient for parents like me. I am worried for the admission of my daughter.
If twins will get preference for the admission in same school then sibling will also get preference for the admission in the same school.
Dear Parents of twins,
Hope, all of you are doing great and must be equally worried as I am .
We must get together and write to DOE and Honorable Education Minister Shri. Manish Sisodia jee ( his email is on the link , " http://www.einfoportal.com/2013/11/AAPCandidateManishSisodia.html " )so that they pass on a guideline for twins before 15th January'14.
I had already written an email to honorable education minister Shri Manish Sisodia jee and awaits a response.
Twins should get an advantage of being selected to same school as a sibling gets extra points in the present guidelines.
Regards,
Dr. Gyan Saurabh
I just rang on 9818910202 ( mobile number of honorable education minister Shri Manish Sisodia jee , given in the link http://www.einfoportal.com/2013/11/AAPCandidateManishSisodia.html )
and had registered my apprehension of no mention of twins in the present guidelines.
