Nursery Admissions in Delhi NCR 2026-27

Form Dates | Admission Criteria | Results | Fee Details | List of All Schools

Sumit Vohra, founder of an online forum for parents seeking nursery admission for their children, V R ONE, which organised the protest, says: "We want strict action against complaints filed with DoE against schools for not following the government guidelines."

"There are too many discrepancies. Modern School in Humayunpur and Vasant Vihar did not disclose any point system for nursery admissions. Laxman Public School and many others conducted a draw of lots in the absence of parents. Summerfields, KR Mangalam and many other schools are giving admissions on a first come first serve basis. Tagore International School has mentioned on its website that fee once paid will not be refunded, which is totally against the government guidelines."

There are contradictory problems in the point system, say parents. While some parents found problems because their child was a first born, others had troubles because it was their second born child.

Education Director Admits Loopholes In Nursery Admissions, To Rethink
TIMES NEWS NETWORK

New Delhi:For the first time in the history of nursery admissions in the city, parents came out on the roads to protest against violations by schools and the serious crunch of seats in the general category. Dressed in black, these harried parents showed up outside the office of the directorate of education on Wednesday evening. They also submitted a memorandum to the education director. Soon after, the directorate issued a circular to schools stating that if any seats remain vacant in any category (mostly alumni and sibling) except the EWS, they should be declared as open for others who have not been successful in getting admission earlier.
The education director, P Krishnamurthy, also admitted the nursery admissions this year turned out to be a learning experience for them especially after the implementation of the right to education and the 25% quota for the economically weaker section. “We will now have to look at how much is set aside in every category for nursery admissions. Schools have the freedom to fix their own criteria but we try to keep the system transparent. We will learn from this experience,” he said. According to him, schools which had kept categories for sibling, alumni and others will have to open the vacant seats for those in waiting.
He also said the number of general seats had shrunk but the directorate had not stopped private schools from increasing their total number of seats to accommodate this quota. “We are also collecting details from all unrecognized schools so that we can know their number and about their infrastructure to consider relaxing the norms for recognition. That will create more options for parents,” Krishnamurthy said.

निदेशालय पर फूटा पैरंट्स का गुस्सा
10 Feb 2011, 0400 hrs IST

I agreed. You are right.. I suggested this point to DOE during our meeting that the weightage should be given to Neighbourhood. No Point for Alumni and Equal Point for sibling and First Born. Yes, due consideration can be given to physically challanged and single parent..

On this HE REPLIED THAT - the people who don't have good school to their neighbourhood will complain then...... if schools increase the weigtage of neighbourhood point.. But I think, he is wrong.. as the capable parents who can afford public schools lives nearby to good schools or you can say.. Pvt Shools open their braanch at the places where the people live who can afford the public school fees etc.

Arti ji , already Physically challenged people come under disadvantage group in EWS category.
DOE is learning always but they learning on what cost? what is use if the big fat slow DOE system learning so slow. whether this years kid get justice? DOE 's eternal learning will ever end? when they will act near admission process mid of admission process or en of the process. and after 31. 3 11 they will go " kumbhkarn SLEEP" till next year. this is story of DOE officials. and Minister lovely.
I second the thoughts of Mr. Dutta. Well said.

I Thank You Sumit Ji and all the Parents who joined the March yesterday. A special thanks to Mr. Sumit Vohra who organized every thing from legal formalities to Media....

I know this has'nt resultant in getting the admission of our kids. But this will definitely make an impact on school and on DOE. Infact it has made an impact on DOE as they promised us to take action against the schools, who are not following the guidelines..

I request parent to think NEXT ACTION... ANY SUGGESTION .... ????

Arti Jain

there are no blocked seat for alumni and sibling in most school hence unblocking permission is eye wash only. who are going to cheek EWS certificate which available on "Gandhiji certificate".

i have herd that some school also asking to bring EWS certificate and pay regular fee+ we will not verified. we will provide you EWS seat . government happy we school happy you will be also happy. all  happy happy happy formula.

the school make these EWS seat student drop out by demoralizing by every means like tours  program  , day out and other extra curricular activity  in one tow or three year becaz govt will pay limited fee to this school. they will act that we are providing education but the cost of extra caricullar activity has to born by parents . definitely most EWS parent will decline and the sepration of EWS and non EWS will form in class . it will result drop out .

the crux is these seat will goes to kids whose parents can pay fat amount.

again school happy , govt fooled, EWS cheated , rich parents happy

Mr Dutta,

Do you really think that the genuine parents have been allotted seats under EWS ?? Do you think a parent who is earning 8000/- p.m. can afford to send their children to school such as Modern, DPS, Sanskriti...  Can they actually dare to go to such big schools.... I suspect all these seats are filled up by the parents either by false income certificates or by the School management itself.... who is going to check the list of EWS children.. Moreover the catch its... Most of the schools has not published the list of EWS selected children on net.... why for ????

Absolutely correct. This is the most brilliant ironical statement I have ever seen. Thank you Mr. Dutta for writing this post. Actually this is the voice of every parent but everyone feels reluctant to do that.

sir all drop out seat will go to management. all withdraw seat will go to management. school can bear one year no money ( from govt in lieu of EWS)  for greater benifits 12+ 2-1 = 11years

see the situation

on pressure of govt school A given admission in EWS quota

( govt became happy)

since child will be unwanted / encroachment of school's precious seat -  in the eye of school

school do whatever they can do , to demoralize kid and parents in PTM meeting etc low std language issue , not including in tours , 2nd class parents in gathering etc , 90% of EWS parents/kid ultimately will run aways due to attitude of school.

*like in sanskriti school 50% reserved for IAS officers only

25% EWS who will sit alongwith the kid of IAS officers ha ha ha

* in mordern school, spring dale, DPS, vasant vally, kumar mangalam, GD goanka etc.

any EWS KID will sustain with schools negative attitude.

friends this is human tendency and schools run by human. Human  body discard unwanted things as soon as possible  and these school will discard most of these kids ( school management will never accept a fraction of fee given by govt in lieu of EWS for a long time i.e. 12+2= 14 years)

to understand the picture  nobody has to learn rocket science.

that what will going to happend in some month or 1 year .

seats will vacant school will sold as management quota or take by entrance from general domain.

Big Q is who want to understand?

Whether DOE ? certainly not because all school alredy pleased them by offering management quota,

big bundles of " RED certificate  with gandhijii picture"

what u think lovely and sheela not know this ? they know every thing . all big school management committee are generous Donner of party

a rickshawall will understand but not DOE

Why don't schools publish the points for each student who has filled the form.
I'm amazed that this drama has left people hopeful that somehow a few seats would appear by magic and accommodate their children. One parent has laughably expected Sumit Vohra to sit on hunger strike. Get real, Government has far bigger issues to consider than looking at 50 parents protesting for about an hour. Nothing will change because of this token protest. Start looking at management quota seats for your child or consider continuing with nursery in play schools.
