In my opinion, the admissions in the school shoud be given on the basis of first come first serve basis if they are fullfill their age createria. It is absolutely wrong to test child & their parents.
And if sibling is already in the same school then they should be absorbed automatically , it is very funny to assess the sibling based on the sibling studying in Kindergarten/first standard, or fee submission criteria etc...It is very disturbing to know that top schools make sibling category people wait and reject for no reason...we are the same parents whom they evaluated on parenting style 3 years ago
I agree to an extent to PRakash...tho that is also not a firm process. For all 4 years I wanted my daughter to start her schooling in Scottish high and filled the form on 2nd day at 11 am of forms openeing.. still i am on hold list wich means i sh hv filled the form the very first day..my daughter has yet not got admission in any schools(we only applied in 3schools)..suncity made us fill questionare but we havent got any call from them..we are also not aware what is the basis of shortlisting the forms...considering all this as there is no transparency in the system.. I feel draw of lots in front of the parents is a correct phenomeneon.. its very diffcult for schools to come out with a proper way of amission system... need of the time is more schools.........

I AGREE WITH YOU VISHESH

RTE Act, 2009 has come into force w.e.f. 01.04.2010 all over country except J&K State. Screening Procedure is expressly prohibited by law
!!
I agree with Poonam .....In gurgaon its school who is choosing us(by lucky draw or by interaction) instead of us choosing school....i always wanted my child to go to heritage or shikshantar but she was not lucky enough to go either....now i hv ended us in MRIS which was definately not my choice but my situation is " beggars cant be choosers " as nobody(out of 6 forms i filled in) except MRIS, offered us admission.Suncity didnt shortlisted us (still donno why) scottish high we were late , DPS SL again lucky draw and amiown says my daughter is 9 days elder and doesnt meet their criteria of nursery .....
But megha MRIS is better than amity and heritage...beleive me. They really work on the kids
Schools not done admission as per rules and regulations. They collect admission forms 20 times of seats available in the school for money making and If they have not seats available why they accept forms from parents and charge money for registration. Also they called 2-3 rounds of interview one for child, and other one for parents and questionnaires also. Its a totally wrong process. one thing i also share with all, are you know after the admission what aticates they give to your child, You dont know, please check after admission through one school visit. I am really surprised when i visit in Jaipuria school ghaziabad regarding my son admission, all children sitting on floor without mat. These aticates they give to our children and take from us very high amount for that.

in my opinion there is a bias towards the parents in service than the parents with business background. what is in service that is so facsinating and attracts the schools. in business multiple jobs are performed by a single person and in service they are simply uni dimensional. even with professionally qualified parents they choose to ignore.
i think some weightage should be given for the child as well.
and the schools should disclose their basis of selection
Interaction with the child is totally banned and still they are being tested - complete violation of the RTI. Some schools even do not disclose the method of selection which is again wrong. If at all, common reasons for not being selected can be shown on the website or notice board to bring an end to parent's anxiousty. The schools should indicate their fee structure, bus facility and preferences for selection to avoid unnecessary sale of forms and rush at the gate. One will avoid to apply in a school where he/she does not find any scope of getting admission.
I am also with opinion that interaction/Interview/Observation should not happen, following should be followed in priority order.

1. Sibling & alumni should get direct Admission.
2. First come first serve basis. (School may distribute forms as per the ratio of seats available)
3. Point System.
4. Draw of Lots.

Big no for interaction/Interview/Observation.
Hi as, taken from Ganguly committee report.......this can be very well formally applied now for Pan India(our life in NCR will be very easy) not only for Delhi NCT...as the Right of Education Act, RTE is in full force now..it requires just a sincere push from HRD Ministry...and i'm sure one day it will happen and Nursery admission process will be totally tranparent....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Report reads-----
"In order to understand the feedback and suggestions received from the stakeholders in proper context it is necessary to briefly look at the salient recommendations that Ganguly Committee made earlier:

•Schools shall completely eliminate interview of and interaction with children and parents.
•There would be no overall lottery system adopted to select/short list children for admission. Limited use of lottery system would be adopted at the last stage to break any tie.
•A common admission procedure with a standardized registration form and time schedule shall be followed by all the schools.
•A hundred point matrix for calculation of weightage for different criteria as detailed below shall be followed by schools

Criterion : Maximum Points

Neighbourhood : 20
Sibling : 20
Alumni : 10
Children with special needs : 05
Educational Qualifications of Parents : 20
Girl Child : 05
School-specific parameters : 20

•The Committee had recommended that 10% of the total seats may be allotted to the discretion of the management."
-------------------------------------
Also RTE Act makes it umpteen clear that selection process in school pan India must be standardised and transparent:"RTE Act 2009"
Section13.Subsection (1) No School or person shall, while admitting a child, collect any capitation fee and subject the child or his/her parents/guardian to any Screening procedure.
Subsection (2) any school or person if in contravention of the provisions of subsectio (1),---
(b) subjects a child to screening procedure, shall be punishabl with fine which may extend totwenty-five thousand rupees for the first contravention and fifty thousand rupees for each subsequent contraventions.
