Blue bells international and Gyan Bharati are the 2 schools who have changed their points system.

In Blue Bells, we have only the points from neighbouhood criteria. Earlier there were 20 points for the

questionnire which has now zero points. 20 points are now for Transferrable jobs. What Transferrable

jobs have to do with the kid's education ?.The DOE says that parents education does not figure for the

child. But the siblings, alumni , Traneferrable jobs, transfer cases, parents as Government Servants

have good reason for child's admission to school. The DOE's directives are bullshit and rubbish and

meant to serve the purposes of elite class only.
Hi Sandeep,

I totally understand your views and agrees also partially. But Sumit ji is just trying to help. Its all actually DOE fault. They have not issued any clear guidelines to schools and if they have, they have not enforced it properly. Schools have been taking DOE very very lightly. I think Doe still should take action against erring schools by reducing any grants or levying penalty etc so that they take a lesson and take the guidelines seriously. Sumit ji has just been putting schools erring behaviour in front of DOE from time to time and that should be done. But DOE should be wise enough to use the info in correct manner so that no one suffers. School admission should be an impartial and logical process. The way DOE has designed the point system, it has left full scope for schools to manipulate it to their benefit. Also, the point system is very discriminatory. Except distance, i dont think any other is point is non discriminatory.

So definitely, DOE should take action on all the feedbacks making sure children and parents dont suffer and schools also get a lesson.

Sumit your website was the one which propogated that these point should be removed and are unfair and now you are asking parents who are affected to get up and ask you for help. I think you are also adding a lot of confusion to the already existing confusion. It is quite fair for schools to keep some points for the parents background. Tomorrow we will say WHY NEIGHBORHOOD? WHY ALUMNI? WHY SIBLING? BEST WOULD BE EVERYONE APPLIES AND SCHOOLS DO LUCKY DRAW ONLY? If some of us have studied and worked hard all our lives OBVIOULSY WE WANT OUR CHILDREN TO REAP THE BENEFIT RIGHT?? I SUGGEST WE BEHAVE RESPONSIBLY AND DO THESE ENDLESS DEBATES ONCE THIS ROUND OF ADMISSIONS IS OVER NOT NOW. FOR NEXT YEAR WE CAN HAVE A BIG DEBATE AND THEN DECIDE BUT AT THIS LAST MOMENT IT IS TOTALLY CRAZY.
Sumit I am sure no matter what the criteria is parents will always crib. When there was no critreria then also parents cribbed a lot - rightly or sometimes for no reason. It is impossible to have exactly the same critreria in each school. But having a parents points brings some balance for those who have no sibling or alumni points. Also the schools should have some flexibility for some points. Maybe next year they can be asked for divide say 75 points in sibling alumni neighborhood girl child first child blah blah and max 25 points for parents background. But NEXT YEAR. Even then some people will be left and they will come up with some new crib. I THINK SCHOOLS ARE BEING MUCH MURE MORE TRANSPARENT THAN BEFORE THANKS TO YOU AND OTHER PPL LIKE YOU, LET US NOT OVER MANAGE OR OVER INDULGE AND LET US BE PRACTICAL.

Hi,

I think there is a way of doing things & these random thought less decisions by government won't do good to anyone.

Firstly, government is at fault for not enforcing laws properly. Similar things have happened in previous years as well; it is not a new problem. So, this move should have been forced earlier. And even if government wants to change rules now, it should be for next year.

Secondly, one can also argue both ways as to which criteria is more fair - points for parents professionally qualified or points for distance. Lesser qualified people will say they have equal rights to good education for their children & obviously this is 100% correct. But at the same time, qualified AND unqualified parents who are living in a locality where there is no good school, can raise a similar voice for equal rights. Just because there is no good school in neighborhood, it does not mean that their children should suffer. So, either way arguments can be made.

Now, there would be many parents who have got their children admission to schools having points for professional qualifications & thus may not have pursued admission process in other schools. If their admission is canceled at this stage, it will lead to nothing but total chaos. This will also give further opportunity to schools to ask for hefty donations. Some schools may even to an extreme & take this opportunity to unfairly cancel some valid admissions to make way for people who can make good donations.

So, if government really wants to implement this immediately now (for whatever reasons), entire admission procedure across all schools should be scrapped by canceling all admissions & start again from beginning. This does not look like a feasible thing to me.

So, for now, let sanity prevail & things be as they are & ensure that process is fair to one & all from next year.

JJ so what you are saying is scrap parents background points? Why do you find this discriminatory? If this is discriminatory then so are sibling points? So are alumni points? Also for your information none for these private schools get any grants from DOE. I think Sumit and his website are doing a wonderful job but tell me JJ if you were to create the points system how will you do it - on what basis? Can you suggest a split of 100 points which according to you is non-discriminatory?

Hi,

Although my wife is a PGDBM from BIMTECH (Birla Institute of Mgmt Technology) and she showed her Provisional Certificate with marksheets of all four semisters, still the school (Ahlcon International , Mayur Vihar) asked for the Diploma Copy (which has unfortunately been misplaced).. After a polite argument , they took an undertaking from us stating that we will submit the copy of Diploma at the time of Admission, if our child's name exist in the admission list..

With both of us being post graduates , our points were coming out as 40 (which included 0 points for distance as the school is 11 kms from our house as per the school's list of distance.).

We spoke in the institute and they said it will take a month as the Diploma is signed by the chairman in Kolkata. In this case , i fear if we will not be able to sumbit the same during admission process..Plz see if something can be done...

Best Regards
Vishal.

I welcome this great buy DOE move. Although I am an engineer by profession but I strongly believe that we should not discriminate children on the basis of their parent's education and profession. Who guaranties that a child of scientist will also excel in academics and become a scientist.

Malice to no one.

Thanks,
Umesh

i have applied for nursery admission of my first son in south delhi schools. already Gyan Bharti and Blue bells had withdrawn the qualification/profession poins If other schools will withdraw these points for profession and education then we will stand no chance of admission of my son anywhere as this is the primary basis on which we are able to hope in some schools.. there is no use of withdrawing points like this.. either abolish the entire point system or let it be this way for now. There are so many parents who are applying for first time for their son. They are not alumni of any good school in delhi.. dont they have the right to educate their kids in good school...Let join to stop all these changes in parameter points
yes changing at this stage is impacting middle class educated parents the most... especially if they are seeking admission for their first child who is a son...as they neither have a sibling...not an alumni (if they don't belong to delhi)

This is unfair... a school should not be allowed to change the points.... at his stage... specially now when the registration has been closed
