Nursery admissions process in the Capital, which was halted after the Supreme Court order, is likely to resume on Monday as the Directorate of Education (DoE) issued a notice on Thursday asking schools to initiate it as soon as possible. While few schools are expected to hold classes before they break off for the summer vacations, most of them are only finalising admissions right now and starting sessions in July.
As per sources, most schools are closing for the summer vacations on Friday because of which, there is no way that sessions can start. These schools include most of the Delhi Public Schools, including RK Puram and Vasant Kunj. Bal Bharati Public School Principal said that they would start the admission process for nursery on Monday but will wait till July to start classes.
However, Springdales School is expected to release their admission list on Friday and start classes on May 15. Principal Ameeta Mulla Wattal said, “We will be collecting the fees from the parents on May 12 and conduct the orientation for the students on May 13. The students can then attend class on May 15 and 16 after which we will break off for the summer vacations.”
The only contention still remaining with the parents is whether they will be given any relief in terms of the fees. “Parents want that their fees paid for the first quarter gets adjusted in the next quarter since the first quarter went vacant. However, school authorities are not budging from their stand and it is likely that parents will have to compromise,” said Sumit Vohra, founder, admissionsnursery.com.
