Plea likely against partial redraw

NURSERY ADMISSION TROUBLES DON’T END YET

Shreya Roy Chowdhury TNN

New Delhi: There may be more legal action coming on nursery admissions. At least some transfer cases may go to court, not against the withdrawal of points, but against the decision allowing some to hang on to their seats.
Waitlisted candidates, too, are anxious. The guidelines, they say, don’t clarify whether existing wait-lists are to be scrapped while its members participate in other draws.
“I made sure I moved in time for the admissions,” says Kumar Saurabh who moved from Mumbai in 2013. “I got new voter ID cards, changed the address on my wife’s passport and updated our Aadhaar cards. I wasn’t expecting any points for transfer. But I saw the new guidelines were good.” Figuring that the points for transfer improved his chances significantly, Saurabh applied to a “limited number of schools”. His son was selected at three.
Saurabh informs that schools, especially after protests over transfer cases, became so vigilant that he was asked to furnish many documents other than those prescribed by the Directorate of Education. “We thought the
first guidelines were progressive. Later, we believed when DoE scraps transfer points, they’ll come up with something rational. They haven’t.”
His fears coincide exactly with 70-pointers (applicants with only distance points). “At one Vasant Kunj school, there’s a draw for hundreds of 75-pointers for 63 seats. If you remove transfer cases, the batch will be of siblings and alumni,” Saurabh says.
Several parents and activists have been demanding “capping” of the number of seats that can go to these categories. “You should have similarly scrapped 20 points for sibling and five points for alumni or at least a cap should have been put on them as suggested by the Ganguly Committee in its IInd Report to the Delhi high court in 2007,” lawyer-activist Ashok Agarwal wrote to the LG on Friday.

“Parents with genuine transfer points say they will get one chance in the lottery while others will get more. Since technically all lists are provisional, on what ground can waitlist candidates be rejected?” Sumit Vohra of admissionsnursery.com says.

Don’t contest other criteria: HC to parents

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

New Delhi: The Delhi government on Friday informed Delhi high court that it has done away with points for interstate transfer cases of children seeking admission in nursery classes.
“The writ petition was essentially filed against the grant of points reserved for interstate transfer category. The Delhi government informed us that the provision of five points for interstate transfer cases has been done away with and a fresh notification been issued. In view of this, no further direction is needed. The writ petition stands disposed,” a bench headed by acting Chief Justice B D Ahmed said.
During the hearing, the bench asked petitioner Rohit Nagpal and other parents not to widen the scope of the petition by challenging other admission criteria. It, however, asked the parents to approach the single judge bench for other grievances related to the nursery admission process. The single bench, which was hearing a similar plea, had disposed of the petition.

Yes right. But giving someone a upper-hand at beginning and withdrawing it now will be criticized by them as everyone loves their kids. 70 pointers were suffering from beginning and still they are suffering and i see no hope for them. I was already out of the race in all schools in first list.

What is the effect of cancellation and redraw ? I don't see any school updating their site or putting any notice in this regard!! All the schools are out with the previous selection list baring springdale which has removed the result link after the DOE notice.

Redraw for all 70's ...not at all
the 70 pointers having confirmed seats have already came from 2000 to 3000 form and why extra points and
Privilege to transfer cases ...people living in delhi from last 10 to 30 years where they will go then...for 70 pointers
Also most of parents have filled 15 to 20 forms only ...
20 points each for first child.nd sibling only.
Rest re draw
Govt. Is working like blind dumb n deaf .
why didn't they sit and sorted out it before n timely. It can't be more confusing whatever is happening this time ... thanks to Nazib Jung LG Delhi.

Ab to muhhe bhi lagata hai sabko barabar mauka mile, do redraw for all again., also hata do sare point treat all children equally. N do all draw for full 75 % seats exceot ews.

No boss please understand I will give exact picture in bal bharti rohini total seats were 138 for
General category out of which 50-55 were transfer cases draw conducted only for 7 seats and you known
How much eligible candidates for 7 seats 3576 ...now if transfer seats are vacant I.e 50-55 than how much application will
Increase I.e 55 only and draw will happened for 50-55 seats this time and applications will 3630
So people how got selected in 7 seats out of 3576 why redraw for them ...so redraw for all 70's is not scientifically right.

And one more point people who have used fake transfer orders they have followed illegal process school have to ca
Cancel such cases
@dr manish sharma.I absolutely agree with Dr Manish. Fair chance should be given to all children with 70 pointers and we must raise this voice to higher levels. Deaf ears hear voices of high decibels.

Lets total applicant be 1000 and no of general seat be 100.

If all redraw happens then probabilty of selection a kid is 100/1000 means 1/10.

But now only transfer seats are cancelled and opened for all for draw. Let assume transfer case to be 25. Now probabilty of selection for the kids for remaining seats is reduced to 25/925 means 1/37.

So with the redraw of transfer seats the chance of applicant who were under transfer category has been reduced from 1/10 to 1/37. Moreover, they get only one chance for draw, while 70 pointers have had one chance already now is their second attempt.

This is gross injustice with kids having transfer point. They are not being given equal opportunities.

Some 75 pointers may have filled forms for limited schools, as the were assured of seats even after filling less forms. Since no more fresh applications are accepted, their chances of selection are limited even further.

Another logic some people may have is, selected 70 pointers got selected from 2000-3000 applicants. Well, so did the wait listed 70 point candidates also. Why scrap the wait list and not the confirmed list ?

Dr. Manish, there is white lie, black lie, and then statistics.

So statistically, the redraw will be biased only if substancial amount of candidates were selected in DOL. In schools, where only a handful seats were there for DOL, there it will be unjust for those who got lucky. And where, a huge amount of seats were available for DOL, then it will be unjust on handful of transfer cases.

But rules cant be based on specific cases. Hence, the debate

I feel ppl want that the legal battle must continue till their kid is admitted to a school of their choice, which being prsactical.... i feel is a never ending process...
