Dear Ashutosh, THe Q is not what impacts admissions, the Q is how is the child utilizing his time. Is it creatively or otherwise? Not many kids are staying at home especially in NCR after 2 to 2-1/2 years age in any case. 2nd compulsion of time is normally dictated by the transport system & not otherwise. In NCR most kids do not stay in neighbourhood & are ferried either by parents or in school arranged transport or in pvt. arranged transport. In a group, you cannot dictate your time. 3rd, the point is not whether scools are benefitting, the point is how & your kids are benefiting. In case a child can be protected from the outside influences for 3 to 4 years without impacting his learning then you have a point, my feeling is the outside interaction is extremely important for a child's development - whether through a play school or any other regular school makes no different. So going to either school is beenficial. So starting a formal school at 3 or 4 makes no difference to a child development. So, if you are starting early in a formal school rather than a play school it is perfectly ok, in case the system requires. THe important Q to answer is have the parents in the past few years been worse off under the 3+ system or a 4+ system. I have faced faced both situations & is strongly feel that quality of school is extremely important rather than going to a formal school & a play school. I have not come across a play school which has given shown such dept in its systems that adds value to the kids upbringing. - i have personal experience of atleast 4 such schools (incl. some best brands) & know of many other cases other cases also. Beleive me formal schools score a lot more on quality of education !
I personally feel that 3 is the best age for a child to get into formal school. at the same time i feel that the formal schooling should not burden the children. the education should be more interactive. children should feel happy while going to school.
I feel right age is 4+ coz child is much more comfortable in learning.
IT SHOULD BE 4+
Age shud be 4 yrs but ths criteria shud be clear so tht playgroup also can decide the exact age for child . as for now child shud be 3 as of sept 2010 bcz they r going to playgroup since they were 2 yrs 3 or 4 months as play group schools start calling u to send the child the moment child reaches 2 yrs..............govt or u guys shudnt start this confusion at this stage as it really create probs for many parents as they hv already decided what to do abt formal schools after lot of search ..........if govt shud think abt age criteria then best time is start of the year not at the admission time when parents are preparing themselves for getting admission for their child in some of good schools...........intelligence of kids cant be describe here as every child is different ther e rkids who hv learnt driving at the age of 5 yrs we cant say tht kids can be directly promoted to engineering ...............we cant decide child's intelligence at this age........yes 3 yrs 5 months is the best age ...........criteria shud be tht all the kids who will be 3 yrs 5 months or above in april can get admission so tht lower age can be set.
In my opinion the age criteria should be increased to 4+. three years is too young for a formal education to start. Please Mr. Vohra, keep our parents concern in front of everyone.niether a three year old is enough potty trained nor will most of the young children can eat thier tiffins on their own. and they will be away for half of the day eating nothing and cryiong and cribbing, which is just unfair from our parents point of view.
please let them grow a bit and atleast give some initial years of childhood to them free of this crios.
please hear their cries.
dont think about 1 year of playschool or two yr of playschool this way we will never be able to grow for better and tomorrow again some othe other issue will come up. so lets stand up today for our own children and give them smiles for one more year.
It’s not a matter of intelligence, (if they are, ist even good as they will add on) its the proper development stage which matters and in initial 4 years the kids shall not be burdened or pressurized much with school activities. Their minds shall be absolutely open till this age. Yes! they shall not be kept dormant and that’s where parents shall keep them involved in some or other fun learning practices every other moment they spend with them (but without any schedule)... After all once they are into the system (study, marks, exam, position, tuitions, etc) they have to follow it for next 20 years (or may be by then the generation changes and there are further challenges....... So why not to give our kidos, some relaxed but fun learning time, just a little extra, hence 4+ is appropriate
I would suggest 4+ as the age criteria. i do understand that at an age of 3+ the child would be able to get started with studies.
however, at an age of 4 and above the kid would have lots of advantages that would make his \her school going experience a better one. as these days almost all of us have our kids enrolled at play schools so at 4 above, he would be already used to school going environment., would be potty trained, will be able to communicate clearly, will be comfortable in grasping up wahtever is taught in school and would himself\herself feel confident. maybe at an age of 3, kids are still in the learning phase of all of above. so few might do exceptionally well but some will not be able to , but at 4 i think every kid would be at comfort. we have to be reasonable that if my kid does well at an age of 3 maybe others might not be...
Age 3+ is perfectly fine...basically 2-3 is the right time for the kid to enjoy play/pre school....it is a fun time and the kid has a little feel of drawiing, writing...In case when the age is 4+ age for admission, the child willtend to waster his time from 3 to 4 yr's of age....it is only a start push which everychild must get so that he shud have the habbit of handling pressure all thru out his life

puneet
no doubt the kids are much smarter now a days but at the age of three the kid is not able to carry himself in a big crowd where the class strength is 35-40 kids in one class with only one teacher +may or may not be maid.and under the pressure of syllabus the growth of child also hinder.what i feel is the child should join play school where learning is totally playful and just to create a routine.+can't we give one year enjoying his childhood his own way or throwing him in the race, stressed in completion of syllabus.what we people are running for ?
In my opinion the child should be 4+ on 31st March for the Nursery session that starts in April of the same year. A child who is 3+ is too young and dependent and may get scared easily of the school environment. The question is not whether they are intelligent or not, the question is whether they are psychologically mature to handle distance from parents and what effect this may have on their future attitude towards school. These children are also not capably of handling themselves at that tender age and therefore it is not advisable to send them to school so early.
Thanks parents. Let us think at mathematical average for the answer. 3 years or 4 years = 7 year Divided by 2 = 3.5 years. The govt. should consider it as on 31 March.
