Parents unsure of securing nursery seat in siblings category

Parents are facing a tough time in securing nursery admissions for their second child with several private schools devising their own methods for selecting students under the 'siblings' category.

The National Progressive Schools Committee (NPSC), which has 150 leading private schools under its umbrella, had given guidelines that the maximum quota for siblings category should not be more than 20 per cent and in case of alumni 5 per cent.

Some schools like Bal Bharti have given quite fair points to siblings while some have given more points to alumni than both sibling and first child, which is clear cut indirect screening, claimed Sumit Vohra, founder of admissionsnursery.Com.

"Some schools like Blue Bells School, have given equal points to first child and sibling and more points to alumni (15 per cent to each to sibling and first child and 20 per cent for alumni) which actually reduces the chance of sibling to almost zero. have given quite fair points to siblings while some have given more points to alumni than both sibling and first child, which is clear cut indirect screening, claimed Sumit Vohra, founder of admissionsnursery.Com.

"The idea is to have a child-centric admission," he said.

Fixing quota for each category in such a case would solve the problem to certain extent, he added.

"First child parents are happy that at least they have some chance and it is a welcome move.. But siblings should be given preference in KG as it is tough to send children to two different schools these days, specially for working couples. Gyan Bharti has set an example by giving first child more points than both alumni and sibling," Vohra added.

This is pathetic situation !

By any logic sibling should have preference over any other category. Providing more or equal marks to first child than Sibling is totally unfair and to the second child. How can a parent Manage two schools.

Vohra Sir please take up?

This is in around 10 plus sought after schools  n Mr Vohra has highlighted

Thanks Ma'am.

Sibling cases for bluebells school are absolutely unsure about admission. Their chances in any other school in vicinity is almost zero. How they are going to get admission. Mr vohra pls raise issue to highest possible level.
Thanks

I agree you. We could not understand on what basis Sibling and First child can have same marks?

See "Humlog" in NDTV India. We urge Mr Vohra to take up please.
