Regarding admission being denied in Bal Bharati Pitampura

Dear Sakshi,

My child got selected in the draw in Bal Bharati School public school , Pitampura. Today i was called for document verification. They told me that we don't fit into the distance criteria. When i told them i checked it on freemaptools.com they said we will only go with the results of google maps. The freemap tools site also uses google maps utility to find distance.But they are just not listening. They have nowhere mentioned that distance had to be measured on googlemaps only. Somehow after requesting I got to meet the Vice Principal who told me that there are many parents facing this issue. She also told us that they have passed on this to DOE and she asked to wait for DOE's reply. However, she denied to share any copy of the application or any reference no of the communication in this regard with DOE. Now what should we do. We are too tensed since the admission process in schools is almost over and we have nothing in hand. I would also like to bring to your notice that many schools have given the refrence of freemaptools website to find distance. So why is Bal Bharati not considering this. Kindly reply and show us the way.

Hi Shakti, Which area is it? I am curious how can the distance calculated be different on the two sites. At max the difference should be 0.05 km for 3km radius

Also, I just cross checked and bbps have mentioned that only googlemaps will be considered (with double star **). But they have mentioned it after selection list was out and not at the time of filing admission forms. Since Google maps is the most widely used tool, it may have made sense for the school. But I still would be very surprised if the same address is shown as having different aerial distance from the same source. The road distance calculations do have potential for difference between different websites but not aerial distance as aerial distance is calculated from latitude and longitude.

Yes Rukmesh, they added the line about distance being calculated from googlemap only after the complaints from parents on first day of verification. I stay in C Block, Prashnat Vihar. Please do share your analysis on this after you check. M eagerly waiting. Too much stressed.

Hi, when I checked on Google maps it shows it at a little over 3.1 km. However don't get disheartend, as there are more than 10 cases from RU, FU, PU block areas of Pitampura. Some of these areas are almost 3.7-3.9 km from school. After all how many cases will the school reject.
Using the link below you can draw a circle of 3km on bal bharati, and all areas within the circle should be allowed by school.

Need a favour can u check n tell me from freemaptools.com also. I just want to cross check whether two sites give same results. I have checked but want to be sure that I am not making any mistake.
Also r u talking about more than 10 cases of bal bharati pitampura, rejecting applications coz of distance . Can u share details of the parents if u have any , so that we can give a representation.

Using freemaptools also I am getting almost the same results. screenshot attached. Calculated from bbps main gate.

Best of luck Shakti. And dont delay further. After end of next week, very few seats may be left in the sought after schools. By the way, how much did the distance come on freemaptools when you first measured?

Hi Shakti,

Your residence address location is correct, but the school location in the link is wrong. It has taken the other end of the road on which the school is located. That's why there is so much difference.
