Actually you have to submit birth certificate when your child gets admission in that particular school.
But very few schools ask for original b.c at the time of applying.
So if possible get 4 to 5 copies handy with name of child printed on it.
Still the guidelines are not out ..you have time to apply

Yes Many school ask for original certificate. If you can get more copies from Kolkata. or submit colored print out instead.

1) My child's name is written on the birth certificate.

2) I am trying to lay my hands on more "originals" from Kolkata, but my apprehension that it will be difficult.

3) In any case the color printout is the best immediate solution.

In my opinion , get a color printout and laminate it.

Dear All

I hope you are aware that you have to deposit original B.C in the school in which you get selected till your child is studying in that school.if you block your first seat n get school of your choice in waiting or second list you are given 3-4 days to finish the formalities .

So getting original B.C back wont be possible in short time and in future if you require original B.C of child for any purpose ..then it might be a problem.

Thanks. While I see the logic in asking for original bc at the time of admission , my initial question was submitting original bc at the time of APPLYING rather than at the time of ADMISSION. Hence the confusion. Thanks for sorting it out Anyways .
