Name KARAN ARORA
Bank Draft 214592---02.01.2012
Selection Status Selected on GENERAL - LIST 1

Please suggest me how to choose a school if my daughter has got shortlisted in more than one schools. my first preference will be the education system and low student:teacher ratio in a section. I am totally confused.

Same here Divesh. I'm from East Delhi. My daughter's name has been selected in ASN Sr. Sec School and DAV Shrestha Vihar. Both are amoung the best school of this area... I'm too confused which school to go for now...

Hi Jasleen ji,

Hearty Congrats...

If you are looking for very good academics then pls go for DAV Shrestha Vihar...

ASN Sr. Sec School can become a choice based on its balanced exposure to studies & cocurriculars...

Hi Divesh ji,

Choice of final selection is a very personal & sometimes subjective decision based on your own parameters if you ward is selected in more than one preferred schools. However we can deduce some objective and very practical basis out of the past year experience of shared by parents in this forum:

Nearness to your residence.

Popularity of school (brand name does matter once you have more choices as parents say)---based on Academics performance of past years, overall available infrastructure of the school, class strength vis a vis teacher per class to have better span of interaction, airy and clean classrooms, children playing facilities, sports & extra curricular exposure, holistic development becomes a choice in case of newer age schools where experimental learning is given a preference with less academic burden on the students, in traditional schools the parents look if the school exposes students to intellectual & competitive exposure by means of participation in International Olampiads (maths, englsih, science and or cyber), Quiz shows etc., what is the mode of teaching ( at present all well known schools are using Smart Boards in classrooms for better understanding of the concepts using audio-visual methods), Competency of teachers ( how are they selected, average age of their experince, how is training provided to keep them updated), School Principal as the role model-leadership qualities and experience-this very much matters.

(P.S.-if the school is from one of reputed established chain then parents are more inclined to join it).

Thanks Bij:). This would be really an ideal and a truely comprehensive way of making the right choice. But the problem is that its not easy to get hold of all these aspects of the schools and specially when i don't know anyone whose ward is studying in any of these schools. Till now my daughter's name has got selected in Green Fields (Safdarjung Enclave) and Manava Bharati (Panchsheel Park). they both seem to be known names and both are equally distant from my residence... Thus my confusion still prevails !!!

Hi Divesh ji and other parents,

During the time of admitting my children i had followed the basic 1st rule method i'e. slogging on my own to know about the schools of my choice in following way: after going through schools' website and any other published info...i used to visit the schools during the time when pre school kids were coming out after finishing their classes...lot of parents who used to prefer their own accomodation were standing outside the schools to receive their ward...i used to get the 1st hand info from them...then at time of filling and submitting the forms and interaction time visited the schools classrooms, playing areas, activity rooms, canteens, saw bus facility, library, computer rooms and other minute details..read about the principal...saw the happy (or otherwise) faces of kids coming out of schools, discussed in detail with the parents in a very critical way and used that info vis a vis my child's nature ...i think one may get enough 1st hand info required to make one's decision...

(.....last but not the least...this beautiful forum AN.COM started by Sumit sir..is full of experiences of the parents who selflessly share their views and give impartial suggestions which helped me and many more parents...pls share with the parents who have their kids in your choice of school in this forum...)

WOW! This is some dedication :) This is the stuff dreams are made us :P

Thanks a Ton Jaspreet ji for your kind words...

Thanks also for your selfless contribution in helping parents queries...we hope you will help us and other parents in future too..

All the best for your kid's bright future:)
