Special education teachers in Kothari International School B-279, Sector 50, Noida  assess and work with youth and children that have many different disabilities. Learning disability, communication challenges, emotional and behavioral disorders, physical disabilities, and developmental disabilities. Special Education is that component of education which employs special instructional methodology (Remedial Instruction), instructional materials, learning-teaching aids and equipment to meet educational needs of children with specific learning disabilities. There are two Special Educator teachers in the school to work with these children, primarily teaching them basic literacy and life skills. They communicate and work together with parents, school psychologists, school administrators and other teachers.

•Sanchetna - centre for special needs in Billabong High International School A-73, Sector-34, Noidab

Billabong High prides itself in being a sensitive school, catering to the needs and providing opportunity to every child to grow and develop to their maximum potential. In July - 2009, the School started Sanchetna – a Centre for students with Special Needs. It is an endeavor to reach out to children in society who have Learning Disabilities by providing them with intervention, counselling and clinical services with the support of specialized therapists from the field of psychology, special education, speech therapy and occupational therapy. Ms Joysree Mukherjee, consultant Child Psychologist and Special Educator, Moolchand Hospital, heads the centre.

The SEN Department in Step by Step School, Plot A-10, Sector - 132 assists students access the regular curriculum in separate settings with the aim to integrate students into the mainstream as far as possible. Students will be supported through remediation or reinforcement classes, modification and adaptation of a regular curriculum and through partial integration leading to full integration wherever possible. Further accommodations such as extra time and allotment of scribes will be incorporated wherever necessary, keeping in mind the rules of the examining board.

The Special Needs team at Step By Step works with the mainstream teaching faculty, Special Educators, Speech & Language pathologists, Occupational/Physiotherapists and Counselors/ Family Therapists. It also draws on the experience of visiting professionals such as Child Psychologists & Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, Paediatricians at the Early Intervention stage, Autistic Therapists, and Educational Psychologists from various institutions for assessments and evaluation purposes.

BAL BHARATI PUBLIC SCHOOL, NOIDA started its own ACADEMIC REHABILITATION CENTRE (ARC) in year 2008. The ARC is headed by a Special Educator who works with students having Special Education Needs (e.g. Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Slow Learners) . The Special Educator develops a Individualised Education Program (IEP) for these students on the basis of Informal Assessment. If required the students are reffered to a Psycologist for Clinical Assessment.

Thanks a lot Lathaa. I am primarily looking for a school which follows inclusion methodology for special children. Till now I have only come across Sanchetna which has facilities like speach therapist , OT etc. The other schools like Shriram / Amity only has special educators probably to help kids who face learning disabilities they do not have full feldged classrooms for differently abled children. SBS only has EIS clinic for children less than 5 years.

I am yet to speak with Kothari and Millenium regarding their setup

Please help incase you have a feedback on these facilities.

Did you check with Vishwa Bharti Public School Noida? Are you sure that amity does not have inclusion methology? Cross check with Shiv Nadar since they focus on inclusive methology.

I have checked with Shiv Nadar also. They are refusing to take children with special need . It is quite sad to note that they do not have inclusion policy.

Will check Vishwa Bharti Public School

Pathways Noida???

Will check on Pathways also... Thanks a lot Lathaa ..

Really need help from all parents who could provide feedback on these schools on their inclusion policy...

City private schools extend a helping hand to special students

NOIDA: With nursery admissions on, private schools across the city have started cashing in on the registration process. However, there are some, which are following an innovative concept of inclusive education.

Schools such as Step by Step, Billabong High International, Mayoor  and Millennium admit children with special needs and teach them along with mainstream students. “We believe in the concept of Right to Education (RTE). In our every class, we have two-three differently-abled-students. Why should students be deprived of their basic right to education?” said Rita Kaul, Principal, Millennium School, Sector-41.

Inclusive education, a concept gaining popularity in Delhi and NCR schools, brings all students together in one classroom regardless of their strengths or weaknesses in any area and seeks to maximize their potential. “Early intervention is the best way forward. We are a pre-nursery school open for all those students who require special education. When such students become a part of a large group, their progress gets exhilarated,” said Abha Adams, advisor, Step by Step, Sector 132.

Billabong High International School in Sector-34 works in collaboration with Sanchetna, an NGO, which works for students with special needs. All the students studying at the organisation are transferred to Billabong once they start showing signs of improvement.

“All these students are special to us. We treat all of them like normal students. Once they are recommended by the NGO, they sit, eat and play together with other students,” said Dimple Anil, principal, Billabong High International School.

Experts feel that every child, including those with special needs, should be encouraged to dream big. The admission process in most of the schools will be over by the end of October.
