A large number of parents seeking admission of their children in nursery classes lined up at the prominent schools in the city on Monday, the first day of the admission process.
Long queues were seen at schools as parents wanted to get the forms on the very first day to be on the safer side. The sale of forms began around 8.30 am and continued till late afternoon. “More than 800 forms have been sold today. We expect similar trend ahead,” said Jyoti Bose, principal, Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan.
Ashok Pandey, principal, Ahlcon International School, Mayur Vihar, which has the option of sale and submission of admission forms online, saw over 450 registrations. “There have been over 450 registrations, 300 in general category and over 150 in EWS category today. We except no less than 3,000 applications this season,” he said.
An official at Laxman Public School, Hauz Khas, said more than 500 forms were sold on the first day.
As per the guidelines issued by the directorate of education of Delhi, the forms will be made available from January 2 to January 16. However, many schools will stop the sale even earlier which may cause difficulty to some parents.
At St. Francis School in Janakpuri, application forms will be available till January 6 and submission will start from January 7 and continue till January 12. Many schools have tweaked admission schedule for unspecified reasons. “This is not only a violation of DoE guidelines, it may cause great difficulty for parents,” says Sumit Vohra, founder of parents’ forum admissionsnursery.com.
Mr Pandey of Ahlcon International School said, “I am unable to understand what benefit a school can get by violating the norms.”

As per DoE guidelines, the entire process of admission will have to be completed by March 31.
The schools will have to publish the first list of selected candidates by February 1 and second list by February 28.

Sumit I think the picture is very clear. Schools are safe-guarding their interests by keeping the cut-off dates on the 6th when the High Court verdicts are expected. If as expected, the age for Formal education is 4 years, no parent would be interested in buying forms. Hence the rush to push parents to buy forms before the 6th :)

some schools are askig for play school report card.. this should not be a requirement. also for first child, beside affidevt, they want gov doctor or our gync to give letter saying our child is a first born... after 3.5 yrs ,i find it very strange requiremnt.

also dr radha krishan school is asking for parents income detials..
