Sibal says let admission process be `random', leaves (Admissionsnursery.com )parents guessing- Admissionsnursery.com parents views on ILLOGICAL RANDOM method- in today INDIAN EXPRESS DATED 28 NOV 2010
My suggestion goes for Manual Draw of Lots in the following manner:-
Categorize all the applications. Category 1 - Distance (irrespecticve of any distance), Cat 2- Sibling, Cat 3 - Alumni, Cat 4- Girl Child/1st born, Cat 5- Professional, Cat 6- Businessmen/Others-including service class, Cat 7- Single Parents.Cat 8- Non Matrics Cat 9 - Graduates Cat 10 - Post Graduates.
Mention dates & method of selection e.g. draw of lots in the form and website/notice board. Declare %age for each category to the public (out of 75%). Conduct draw of lots for each category separately. Ask each parent or representative to drop a slip of his/her ward's application no. in the box. Start lottery and carry on with the admission process.
Drawbacks : One has to apply in many..many..many schools becuase after all it is the luck of your child. A deserving child may not get admission in any of the school of his/her choice. Overcome : Govt. need to open good schools in every part of the capital. We need to improve the standard of MCD/NDMC/KVs and bring them at par with so called highly reputed schools. For this, the government should not allow children of teachers working in MCD/NDMC/KVs/other govt. schools to study in any private schools. Let these teachers work harder and harder to compete with good private schools. Then only, we parents might think of admitting out wards in govt. run schools and wemay get rid of this problem for ever..
sakshi drwa of lts shud be in front of parents like any other lottery which is nt possble.................draw in front of managemnet isnt at all fair...............
Kudos 4 giving the issue so much thought 4 reaching a solution. I guess we as parents are never going 2 b satisfied completely by any system. We seem to having problems with age, with point system, with form system, with interviews, with neighbourhood criteria and now with draw system!
I guess Mr Tanwar has put forward a great system to ensure transparency as well which must be forwarded to schools for prompt action. We need to try it out to make it work.
