Walia backs one form for nursery admissions

In a bid to ensure a hassle free way of admissions in nursery classes in the city, Delhi education minister Kiran Walia said that the government is working on a plan of centralised form for admissions.

“We are planning to come out with a new plan of centralised form system like the one followed by the Delhi University,” Ms Walia said.
However, the government will have to convince all of the schools in the national capital to collaborate their nursery admission procedure with the centralised form plan.
The admission for nursery classes for the batch 2013-14 will open in January 2013. The government is planning to make the procedure parent-friendly as they received many complaints about the arbitrary decision-making of private schools regards to procedure of admission.

Indeed a good move! Once school can adopt Centralized Admission Form for EWS category, the methodology can be adopted for General Category also.  Most of the schools cry for shortage of time to complete admission formalities, therefore, sufficient time should be given to schools.

***Conditions apply.

Read the fine print - The government will have to convince all of the schools in the national capital to collaborate their nursery admission procedure with the centralised form plan.

This is a condition which will never fulfill.

Condition can be fulfilled if Govt is really feel it is a stern necessity. According to Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India leading schools must have earned more than Rs.1500 Crores previous year and Rs.1200 crores the  year prior to that. Parents allocated a budget of Rs.15,000 to Rs.20,000 to apply in schools. So schools will never be convinced to take it lightly. So prior to CAP few regulations have to undergone. Education Minister too just want to pacify the parents and it looks they are not so serious.  DOE should take immediate measures to implement atleast uniform point system if not CAP in coming admission session.

Well if they make it mandatory, the schools will not have a choice.
Dont forget educarion is bussiness today

Really want to appreciate this move but i think it is nothing but a political statement to show that they are very serious with the problems faced by the parents. Give me a single example where DOE has taken any reformative step without court intervention. Even the officials of DOE is not serious about this statement by minister. The govt which has not any control on methodology for selection is claiming uniform system and that also on a pattern of university where university has option to select on the basis of percentile which is available unto decimal poit. Big hurdle from school lobby who will never accept if due to loss of financial game is another problem.
