Times of India 18 Jan ~Schools charge between Rs 50,000 and three lakh for admission. It’s a lot of money and the parents are hoping DOE will reconsider the refund policy,” says Sumit Vohra

Schools declare 1st list Last Date For Declaring Second List Is Feb 28 TIMES NEWS NETWORK New Delhi: Parents trying to get their wards admitted in nursery didn’t get much of a breather after the end of the application process. While some schools declared the list of selected candidates on Thursday some others have asked parents to show up for document verification. Delhi Public School International and Bal Bhawan International (Dwarka) have declared their first lists. There will be lottery for those with 45 points in DPS International on Friday while some other branches of DPS have called parents for document verification. The early declaration of results can be troublesome for parents as Directorate of Education gives a month for withdrawing admission and collecting refund. Given the paucity of seats and the fact that the last date for declaring the second list is February 28, parents fear that they will have to grab seats early and then withdraw admissions as other schools release lists. “The last date for second list comes more than a month after January 17. A lot of parents are afraid they will lose money for being unable to withdraw admission within a month. Schools charge between Rs 50,000 and three lakh for admission. It’s a lot of money and the parents are hoping DOE will reconsider the refund policy,” says Sumit Vohra, founder, admissionsnursery.com. Schools don’t give parents much time to arrive at their decision either; Vohra says most schools allow two to four days for payment of fees and taking admission.

Advocate and activist, Khagesh Jha says several parents informed him that schools have called them “for interactions”. “Many of these parents would have scored in the sibling category and would already be known to the school,” says Jha adding, “Most of these parents are going for negotiations over money.” Meanwhile, the much-contested “representative affirmative action” has been finally removed from the list of parameters of Apeejay Pitampura. Parents, however, are still complaining, as even after the redistribution of points, “distance” or “neighbourhood” doesn’t feature on the list. “Now people from all over India can apply,” quips Vohra. In the new list, children with “special needs” get 15 points; girl or first child gets 15; sibling gets 20; parents or grandparents who have been awarded by recognize state/national/international/professional organizations get 15; alumni get 15 and transferable parents, 20 points. For the step taken for refundment of admission charges should be taken seriously, as it can give parents time to finalize the school of choice. THANKS Mr. Sumit for taking the action on the same..

Dear Mr vohra
how will apeejay decide who has a transferable job as the details were never taken in the form. I have just checked my form and there is no column for this. They have kept 20 points in this category.

You need to call the school, they might ask you to furnish details

DOE should take immediate action and revise the Fee Refund Policy. Already many schools have started their business transactions in name of interactions.

Apeejay has removed RAA - It's a great victory for AN.com and Mr.Vohra who fought for last 2 years. Well said by Mr.Vohra now the school seems targeting influential parents from all over India. It's good they have allotted point for physically disabled intersected with disadvantaged group. Physically Challenged people constitute about 3 percent of our total population and 15 points can be reduce to 5 to 10 points.

Awards on Parents/ grandparents conferred by recognized state/national/international/professional organizations and bodies it totally against the spirit of RTE Act.

An award is something given to a person or a group of people to recognize their excellence in a certain field - a certificate of excellence. Awards are often signified by trophies, titles or certificates and there are lot of organisations every nook and corner who give these awards and few get through money transactions. It clearly shows the status one has achieved. So are they picking kids from genes of excellence. Totally unfair, baseless and discriminatory. Again Transferable Points - screening highly positioned Govt. service persons or similar ones.

Parents are very confused to see this Transferable points since it was not asked no were in forms they registered and how can the school look into it.

Totally a baseless and invalid admission criteria. DOE should take immediate action and help them follow a transparent admission criteria.

NURSERY ADMISSIONS - REQUEST FOR FIXING DATES FOR FEES PAYMENT

As the last date of applying for Nursery is over, the parents now face the second uphill task of checking the lists of selected candidates which will be displayed by different schools at different dates. More than that, another herculean task will be to decide whether to deposit Fees in a school which is not on their priority list but which comes out with First list earlier than the other schools. And if afterwards, their ward gets selected in another better school, they will have to deposit fees in that school also.

The DOE can ease this stress of the parents by fixing last date for displaying the list of selected candidates together with fixing the last date for depositing fees which should be after atleast ten days of declaration of the list. As the DOE has fixed the last date for displaying the first list by 15/02/2013, the las date for fee payment should also be fixed as 25/02/2013 so that the parents can decide in which they should deposit the fees. Likewise, dates for second and subsequent lists together with corresponding last dates for depositing fees should be fixed for all the schools.

DOE should decide 1st and 2nd list date of result for all schools like DOE decide for form collection and submission to solve this problem...

Schools like Maxfort are violating refund policies. They are demanding Rs 78000 at the time of admission and in case of reverts, they will keep Rs. 46000 with them. Thanks a lot for becoming our voice for the concerns.
