Section 13 of the RTE places an absolute ban on all admission/screening tests and interviews of parents and children alike for admission to class I. Conducting admission tests is an offence under the RTE and schools are liable for penalties. In the past, admission tests have been used as a method to either make money (by way of collecting capitation fees to admit a child), or to eliminate those children who the school may not want to admit. Its fundamental premise is that it recognises the ability of every child to learn.
But indeed schools like amity has not only pushed the kids to be learned but also parents and even grandparents ( which is a serious matter to bother).
Amity authorities have given completely an explanation in violation of RTE Act.
Homework is just a recap of what kids studied in school. So students can do it independently and if parents or grandparents help out how can the schools go for a real assessment. It's the schools responsiblility to teach well and make child understand well.
According to RTE even the guardians of the kid can't be subjected to any screening methods. Hope Government would take proper actions against these school violating RTE Act.

Completely agree with you! For last 15 -20 days there is nothing in my mind except my child's admission in nursery. The kind of pressure which is being created on us is simply taking a toll on us! Have filled up so many questionnaires in the past few days..the child has been grilled like anything...dont understand why nothing can be done about this state of affairs! We apply in certain schools during the same time period, say within 2-3 days and then what happens is that few of them declare result immidiately and ask to pay the entire fee within a couple of days, whereas certain others which might be on our priority list defer the declaration of result till the 3rd week of september! Now parents get stuck..given the uncertainity they are forced to block the seat in any of the first few schools. Refund policy of the schools is also not parent-friendly. We get meagre amount as refund! Why cant there be any uniformity in the process so than we can choose the best school for our kids out of all available options! Huh!!!
Govt. Authorities and Departments are all Stakeholders in the Admission Process and Fee collected in the School. They can't say anything to school because perhaps they are paid hefty amount for shutting their mouth and turn their back. So there is Win Win condition for both School as well as Ministry and Deptts. on the expense of Parents.Otherwise I don't see any reason why Govt. Agencies doesn't take any step to stop this menace.
Nowadays, Parents are lined up to pay handsome amount to School of their choice while earlier it were parents who opted for school of their choice without any condition and criteria. My request to Govt. Agencies that please save the Parents, they have also children like yours and their children also deserves good education.
Regards
Hi All, i am also sailing in the same boat with filling up forms and rounds of schools for my 3 yr old daughter nursery admission.
for all the parents who have taken their kids to school , i stood by my ground and have not taken my daughter any where for being "Interacted". As a parent, we also have right to Say No of our Kid's exhibition . but i am surprised to see how parents take along their kids to school just to submit the form only.
Secondly, with Amity, as the school has become a Brand , they are really acting snooty. when i was called to submit the form, i was not inform of any more TEST , Paperwork. When i reached the Amity Noida, and was given a handful of sheets to fill the long questionnaire, i simply asked the teacher that this was not communicated earlier on website as well as on the online form submission. the teacher's attitude was simply , Mam pl help urself. if u wish to , or else u can leave. so this gives the first hand experience of Amity. and not to forget it gave a clear feel of Pigeon cope with dark and suffocated classes. And despite this, the parents were going mad to fill the long list of absurd questions.
For the questions, asking GrandParents qualifications , i fail to understand how does its going to help. when today most of us have nuclear set ups, kids go to their grandparents only in vacations.
The point is that despite such Big Schools making mockery of Admission Process, we as a parent will keep on pushing our child to RAT RACE...
I agree to all of the already posted replies on this topic..
I also want to add to this that every school is advancing the admission procedure by at least couple of weeks every year in order to grab the fees 6-7 months in advance( as of now) to squat on it and earn interest.
Why the hell the admission process starts and ends in Aug/Sept. The day is not very far when the admissions would be more than an year in advance.
Why can't schools decide about admissions in Dec and Jan. Is this process a very long process like an engineering exam or something like that ?
You have taken a wise step.
hi all of u,
when i visited amity vasundhara, they didn't allowed to even go inside as whole process of admission is online.showing attitude?mostly schools take rs.1500 as registration/interaction fees.why so much?they are earning a lot by this simple method.why is admission fees so high in most of the schools?Even then they are behaving like Gods to us and our childeren for giving admissions.what the govt. authorities are doing?
