The traffic on the website of Springdales School (Pusa Road), for example, became considerable after the admission link became live in the morning. "We started the link around 8.30am and by 9.15am we had around 300 hits," said principal Ameeta Mulla Wattal. However, she said that not all registrations translate into admission applications. "We will know the exact number only around January 17, when the admission procedure closes," she added.
The Indian School also sold around 300 forms on the first day, besides around 150 forms for The Foundation School. "It was encouraging to see that parents were interested in The Foundation School, which runs in the second session," said principal Tania Joshi.
Mount Abu Public School also issued around 262 forms, both online and offline, for its 160 seats.
Principal Manohar Lal of DPS Mathura Road said that most parents inquired about calculation of points and details of the admissions procedure. The school has given points for neighbourhood, sibling and alumni only.
Online portals were also abuzz with activity as parents realised that many schools have made Aadhaar card of the candidate mandatory. Abhishek Kumar, a resident of Dwarka, said that he applied for Aadhaar card a few weeks ago, but has not received the number as yet. "I have the Aadhaar enrolment number of my son, but some schools have made UID mandatory for online registration," he wrote on an admissionsnursery.com forum.
Principals explained that it was important to have the Aadhaar number of the child because ultimately schools have to upload the data of candidates on UDISE, which asks for the UID. "We cannot leave even one space blank because we will be questioned over lack of UID," explained Tania Joshi.
