NEW DELHI: In the ongoing nursery admission session, many of the Delhi schools have made it mandatory to mention the Aadhaar number of kids for admission procedure.
While the Directorate of Education has declared that the Aadhaar cards of parents are sufficient to prove identity, several schools in Delhi NCR are demanding the kid's Adhaar card too.

The last date for submission of nursery admission forms is January 17. The schools are allowing parents to submit just the Aadhaar enrolment number during registration, while others are strict on having the Aadhaar number.

In case your kid's admission is also stuck due to Aadhaar card, you should apply for it immediately.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to enrol your child for Aadhaar:

If age of child is less than 5 years

1) For children less than 5-years-old, parents need to visit the Aadhaar enrolment centre, fill out the Aadhaar enrolment form, and submit it along with the photocopy of child's birth certificate with your own Aadhaar card.

2) As per UID rules, no biometrics will be recorded for applicants who are less than 5-years-old. The applicant will have to update their Aadhaar once he/she turns 5 and 15. Till then, the child's Aadhaar will be linked to their parent's Aadhaar number.

3) The Aadhaar of the child cannot be made without the parent having an Aadhaar number first.

If age of child is over 5 years

1) If your child is above 5 years, you can get him/her enrolled by visiting the Aadhaar enrolment centre. Fill the enrolment form and submit it along with the birth certificate of child and your own Aadhaar card. Parent's Aadhaar card will serve as the identity and address proof.

2) The biometric data such as - fingers, iris and facial photograph - of the child will be recorded at the time of the enrolment. This procedure will be repeated again when the child turns 15.

In both the cases, an Aadhaar enrolment acknowledgement slip will be given. You can use this number to track the status of your child's Aadhaar number.
