Twins Admission Case : One Kid Selected in Draw of Lot, will other be considered for admission?

A very reputed school in north delhi has asked for twins category admission in the admission form.

So we applied

Now in draw of lot one gets selected but i am not getting clear answer from school regarding the other on

Is there any rule by DOE that if one kid is selected the other is also to be considered for admission?

There is no fixed admissions criteria for Twins by DOE.

But some schools select both the Twins if either is selected in DOL lots (School specific).

Rest see.

Hi Nakul

Majority of the draws in south delhi (that either I witnessed live or saw the pdf results of), gave the admissions to both the kids in case if one got selected (except for maybe Birla Vidya Niketan who also didn't give the other twin a chance.)

I know its not a clear DoE guidance yet, but you must try meeting the school authorities and quoting other schools' examples of how the twins are being considered. Another way of putting across the message is, what was mentioned by one of the schools (and was quite good) that since one of the kids got lucky in draw of lots, the other kid will now be considered a sibling, which ensures a direct admission due to higher points (getting added for sibling). But indeed, its at the school's discretion at the end of the day.

Good luck !

post-judgment by honourable high court in 2014, DOE issued a circular to schools that It is clarified that under the Sibling category, if one of the ‘Twin children’ gets selected, then only the other would be considered under ‘Sibling category’, otherwise not. Now all parents must understand this

1. Your ward will not be given any preference in the draw of lot

but

2. if anyone is selected in the draw, then his other twin will be considered as a sibling and they will have to give you sibling point

thus they will have to give admission to another ward for sure.

SCHOOL ARE NOT DOING ANY CHARITY, its a rule

A similar judgment is issued by the high court in 2017 which stated that separating twins during admission may have serious emotional issues and may hamper the growth of the child also.

First schools are supposed  to follow many DOE rules, but many of them are doing Contempt of Hon' HC by giving banned points.

What can you expect and no action by DOE against a single school, even after results have come.

Pls see.
