PARENTS.. AS OUR FORUM IS FOR THE PARENTS-BY THE PARENTS..I HAVE TRIED TO RAISE SOME ISSUES FOR DOE AND SCHOOLS
New Delhi: The last leg of nursery admissions has already started in many schools. While schools like Tagore International at Vasant Vihar and East of Kailash, Apeejay at Pitampura and Sheikh Sarai, G D Salwan, Rajender Nagar and Kulachi Hansraj, Ashok Vihar, have declared the list of candidates for admission to nursery, DPS R K Puram and Springdales are expected to release the first list of shortlisted candidates on January 15.
It was a battle won for those who got a seat. However, those who couldn’t, have now hit a panic button. “We had applied in not less than 10 schools for our son. But we couldn’t get through most of them. Now only a couple of schools where I applied are still to declare their results,” said a parent from south Delhi. She added that the problem aggravates as most parents want their child to only go to one of the top 10 schools in the city. “Everyone wants to get admission in the most sought-after schools. Obviously not all can find admission in such schools,” she said.
Parents say the individual criteria of schools takes away their chances of making it to the schools of their choice. “Schools in south Delhi are giving 20-30 points to siblings. Another school is giving points only to parents residing within the radius of a few kilometres. So parents with a single child or those living in west Delhi will certainly lose out on major points,” said Sumit Vohra, the creator of www.admissionsnursery.com.
The plan B for most parents, who lose out, would be to get their child admitted in just any school they get into or continue sending the child to the play school.
