With the high court’s green signal to start nursery admissions procedure, many schools have started to come out with their point system for next year’s admissions.

Schools such as Carmel Convent, Frank Anthony, Convent of Jesus and Mary, Loreto Convent, Mount Saint Mary’s and Presentation

Convent are among the schools that have declared the criteria and schedule.

All city schools — barring some minority schools — have decided to reserve 25% seats for EWS category in accordance with the Right to Education Act.
While most schools have stuck with points for alumni and sibling, some have introduced points for first-born child whose parents are not alumni.

This is important in case the first-born child is a boy, as they cannot get points for sibling or a girl child. This new category puts boys on an equal footing,” said Sumit Vohra, founder admissionsnursery.com, a popular portal for parents seeking admission for their children.

Of the schools that have already declared the points system, Mount Saint Mary’s has reserved 70% seats for defence personnel and Christians. Catholics will be given preference for the remaining.

At Cambridge School, New Friends Colony, girl child, sibling, first born, neighbourhood and families with inter-cultural backgrounds will be awarded points.

At Loreto Convent, 50% seats are reserved for Catholics, 25% for EWS, 15% for children whose siblings study at the school and 10% for others.

At Carmel Convent, an all-girls’ school, points will be awarded for neighbourhood, siblings, alumni and children of staff members.

We have 5% seats reserved for children of alumni and 20% for children with siblings in the same school. 25% seats are for EWS and 20% as management quota. The remaining seats will be filled through the lottery system,” said LV Sehgal, principal, Bal Bharti School, Pusa Road.

At Springdales School, Pusa Road, points are expected to be given for neighbourhood, girl child, first born and transfer cases. But many had problems with points for alumni.

How are the schools giving points to first born "TWINS"? I have twin girls an am worried how the schools would consider giving points to them.

Normally some schools give them equivalent to fisrt child each

Thanks!

Yes as media report real credit should go to Mr.Vohra who fought even last year for the same. This has point would some what balance the scale of weightage and many parents would have relieved a little. Hope all schools will follow it.
