yes it is a fair and transperent method for selection at the sametime it dos'nt put burdon of interview on small kids.
When these politicians have given the whole country to BHAGAWAN BHAROSEY then why not the nursery admissions process.

I think the PUNDITS AND ASTROLGERS will now have a party time with parents running after them to get some UPAYAY done to polish and brighten the chances of getting thru the lottery system.

Lottery system is DECEPTIVELY transparent and will be MOST MANIPULATED by schools.

Remember the recent saying of CVC

Can beggars be choosers ?
Hi All

It is easy to understand that there are gainers and losers in the process of lottery. But as I feel happy for the lucky parents, the losers are being subject to filling abnormally high number of admission forms and witnessing multiple lottery processes which may also not ensure a nursery school seat for the child! This is especially so as many parents are not stopping after securing a seat in one school. Further on, as most schools have their lottery drawal process spaced out,the not so lucky parents are caught up in the web for the next 1 month... I as a parent feel utterly helpless at this luck based state of affairs

Would it not have been logical to set clear guidelines for selection basis the vicinity to school as is followd in some parts of NCR??

This is not about luck or soothsaying.

This is about giving a fair chance to EVERYONE when there are a large number of applicants and when kids are required to be freed from the interaction/observation schedule.

Strongly oppose this decision and hope this decision of draw of lots doesn't hit us back..hope we are not retrogressing..hope much thought has been put while opting for this solution..

Do we plan to build our next generation by relying on fate and luck?!!

Mr Abhinav Bindra seems to be right when he said something like this about our CWG preparation: "What if it rains in October?.. I'll definitely meet Paul the pundit while I am in Vetican City..Turn to soothsayers when everything else fails.. after all we are Indians."!!

Good luck folks for admissions (and CWG)! Will pray everyday now.
I feel that this lottery system should be used after selecting a lot(group) of people, for the final selection or vice versa....

Lottery system may have flaws like biasness ot non-transparency.... Most of the people with jacks(approach) would enjoy the change...
Last year most of the schools came out with the admisson lists with the points they got. Though i was not able to make out in the best ones but still we knew who all got the max points.

Relying on lottery wont help,it has to b a blend of two-three systems(thats what i feel).
Quite fair.....but I think they should screen distance at least, else kids have to travel long distances. isn't it ?
If you want to give an equal chance to all then why have reservations under EWS ?

The lottery system will just encourage parents to apply everywhere out of insecurity and the final outcome will be a lot of mismatches in vision of school vs that of the parents. e.g I want my child to have a holistic education and am not interested in a schools that focuses mostly on academics. However this new lottery will ensure that I apply EVERYWHERE.

Lastly why shouldn't parents who have worked hard and made a mark for themselves be given preference ? Is the system fair when rich kids waste their time becoming agricultural farmers while the middle class slogs ? On what basis are you demarkating EWS from the rest of society and not the middle class from the rich ? You can bring in equality when you bring in equality for everyone , and not selectively.

Don't screen the children but the schools should interact with the parents to figure out whether there is a common vision.
You are right there about reservations Hena! This is nothing but vote bank politics .. something to beat up about .. look how we are supporting the poor and needy. Ask those very same netas to shed out one rupee of their ill gotten corrupt gains in favor of EWS scheme, and you can see them wilt away. Same goes for reservations of any kind. However, that said, there are really some (~1% of population) under priviliged children who would excel above and beyond given the right opportunity. The fact that they would excel anyway (Super 30, Abdul Kalam etc) is a different story. Even if one such deserving child gets an opportunity, I suppose this EWS scheme would've paid off. I would like to think this is the criteria behind the EWS - not that you or me can do anything about it (except join politics :)?)
Making mockery of the law… I guess Kapil sibal need a tight slap on his face... why don't he clear the picture.
I think if Interaction is not a clear process then Draw of Lots is not just the way out of it. Interaction atleast gives you an access to authorities and management but Draw of Lot is pure luck. There should be some other way out but NOT the ONE they have opted to........I completely oppose this system
I Completely agree with what Hena Nagpal have said......I has shooted the insecurity in my life atleast...The system has to have some stability otherwise we as parents keep slogging for admission ...forget about the other challenges of life
Every policy or the system has some pros and cons. Delhi Schools and parents are experiencing lot of problems for the last 3 years. Different criterion were followed by different schools and yet problems continued to both the schools and the parents. In my opinion Draw of lots seems to be quite transparent and everyone should agree to its transparency. Most of us believe in God and luck as well. Therefore, let us try this pattern also. God never do injustice to anyone.
I think first come first serve can be a good basis of admissions like Scottish high has adopted..this way atleast parents can get their ward admitted to the school of their choice and avoid all the hassle of applying in multiple schools.
