I feel we Indians have a peculiar problem of getting into blame game.. Right now I am doing the same by blaming everyone :)
When the admission criteria was announced, no one uttered a word and everyone went ahead and filled applications.. As the results dates came closer, each criteria was discussed and everyone had his or her version for each criteria (obviously as per individuals comfort level). Bottom line is everyone wants the criteria as per his or her liking.. We have created the mess and not the government. At the end it is some or the other kid in question and someone will have to accept the fact.. Rules can't be customized as per everyone's liking.
Will just park few thoughts (For reference):
1) Neighborhood - I stay 20 KM away from DPS RK Puram or Vasant Kunj? Should I file a case on grounds of equality and my right etc that I should also get equal chance to get admission in this school and all other reasons? Many more reasons for each parent.
2) Transfer - So one who has spent entire life in Delhi, should they shift to other states for admissions as migrants are getting additional points? Many more reasons can be given.
3) Alumni - I wonder if it is the fight for very good 'popular' schools or average schools.. Will anyone raise questions for normal schools?
4) Siblings - Basis arguments discussed on Forum of dynastic etc, Alumni makes it dynastic but sibling doesn't for future?
What I feel is everyone has their own versions depending on their fulfillment of criteria.
What's disappointing is we have created a mess. It is the shortsighted parents who wake up when they find their kid may not get admission in this list and few parents supporting such issues.
AS A PARENT WHEN THE CRITERIA WAS ANNOUNCED, WHERE WERE THESE PARENTS TO RAISE QUESTIONS?? NOW WASTAGE OF 1 MONTH IS TAKEN AS 'NOT A BIG DEAL' FOR SOME PARENTS.
I have also applied for 20 plus schools and have not got admission for my son anywhere. But this mess created by SO CALLED INTELLECTUAL PARENTS is not taking it anywhere..
AND I SERIOUSLY DOUBT THE COMPETENCY OF GOVT WHO ARE MAKING RANDOM DECISIONS..
IT MAY HAPPEN THAT THE WAY OUR GOVT WILL ISSUE NOTICE THAT THOSE WHO DID NOT GET ADMISSIONS ANYWHERE WILL BE GIVEN ADMISSIONS IN THE BEST SCHOOLS OF DELHI... :)

You are spot on and no one could have described better than you
Now all the parents should focus on admissions of their wards, this platform is for education/admission related discussions and not for PILs.
Agree - that is 100% correct...
i Agree with You so Much Shruti... where were all these parents earlier, and why don't they wait and trust the system.. i feel that every child will get a chance, why are they so hyper if one child has got in draw of lots after all that kid is also someone's child.
Kudos to Shruti and all parents for rational thinking.
Corruption is better. After paying money , atleast we have peace of mind. We are not worried that we wont get seat . I think Bribe should be made legal. In schools, colleges, hospitals and even in parliament.
Lets stop this NO Bhrashatachar Campaigns which create chaos and confusion. We earn for our kids. If cant get admission for our 1st kid in a good schools, all our money is waste and we are jokers in this circus. Please tell us schools which accept BRIBE. We will pay and lets see WHO STOP US.
So that it become an auction system?? WOW... What a thinking?? DISAPPOINTING to say the least.
Do you know there are many other parents who can pay any amount for their kids admission.. It is sad to see your perspective of looking at things.. You did not understood my point. It is we the people who have created chaos and not the government.. Your emphasis on first child says it all.. If things were followed as per the process it would have been much better.. We messed it.
Whatever was the criteria, it was common for all.. Atleast other kids got admissions.. They were also someone's kid with same problems.. What we have done is turn the reality of their dreams into nightmare and showed our selfish behavior.. The so called parents who raised the issues may still not get admissions for their kids but have played with the seats of others.. I feel sad that what kind of examples they are setting for their kids.. Trust me guys it is not the school but the kid's hard work that will take him places..
And it is all non sense that those parents did it for values, system etc. Lets face it. It was all personal benefit and no one benefited..
Mind you - I still do not have a seat :)
IF ITS NOT THE SCHOOL. WHY EVERYBODY try for top schools.
HAVE any one filled a form in Sarkari prathmic Vidayalaya. Is there in mention of that school here in this blog/site.
I already have a seat . and not having a seat is not a big job done.
pay premium for business class if you have money and travel comfortably.
its the question of our kids education.
Theory is Theory. Practical is practical.
I completely agree with you Shruti. Both parents and Govt. should have followed the guidelines and whatever changes were to be done should have been analysed retrospectively and implemented while framing the guidelines for next year. In any case the rules/guidelines should not be tweaked once the results are out. If you change anything after seeing the results it would always lead to chaos. We parent are an equal part of what all has happened.
Now it has no significance after things has gone out of hand. So, the fight should be ON till some more guidelines until it looks fair enough to satisfy all the parents. It may take some more time but it should be kept in mind that there is conservation of satisfaction if one more is satisfied then it will will at the cost of someones dissatisfaction........
its true that the parents did not anticipate such hue and cry. But it does not mean that everyone should accept a rotten nursery formula thrust on the delhites. take the example of people staying within 8 km radius of south delhi. DPS RKP, DPS Mathura Road, Mothers Int, Tagore Internationals, modern schools, Vasanr Valley, DPS Vasant Kunj, Sriram School (total 11) can not expect entry to these schools as the seats are preferred and filled by sibling and alumni purely. only a few seats are for 70 pointers. Sanskriti, Sardar Patel, Fr Agnel, St Paul, Holy Child, are minority institutions. so 70 pointers are losers there too. Practically 70 pointers should go to government schools. only then this mess will be cleared. if 70 pointer parents are agree then the issue ends. if u want your child to go to ny of these schools then there is a need for more PILs against alumni and ceiling for sibling. The schools principals who are raising their vioces for these mess were at peace when mgt quota and mgt discretion for admission was prevalent as it suited them to guard their whims and fancies. have any parents ever met any principal for few words? Principals now a days behave as if they are president of USA and Chief Justice of Supreme court. The most painful appeal of the parents are offensive for Principals. Few are of course noble soul. But many acts as Loius XIV.
So choice is to go to the government schools of fight to challenge the hegemony of cartels.
