STATESMAN 10 MAR Parents are requested to read comments first and see last 3 year history and then comment
I feel we Indians have a peculiar problem of getting into blame game.. Right now I am doing the same by blaming everyone :)
When the admission criteria was announced, no one uttered a word and everyone went ahead and filled applications.. As the results dates came closer, each criteria was discussed and everyone had his or her version for each criteria (obviously as per individuals comfort level). Bottom line is everyone wants the criteria as per his or her liking.. We have created the mess and not the government. At the end it is some or the other kid in question and someone will have to accept the fact.. Rules can't be customized as per everyone's liking.
Will just park few thoughts (For reference):
1) Neighborhood - I stay 20 KM away from DPS RK Puram or Vasant Kunj? Should I file a case on grounds of equality and my right etc that I should also get equal chance to get admission in this school and all other reasons? Many more reasons for each parent.
2) Transfer - So one who has spent entire life in Delhi, should they shift to other states for admissions as migrants are getting additional points? Many more reasons can be given.
3) Alumni - I wonder if it is the fight for very good 'popular' schools or average schools.. Will anyone raise questions for normal schools?
4) Siblings - Basis arguments discussed on Forum of dynastic etc, Alumni makes it dynastic but sibling doesn't for future?
What I feel is everyone has their own versions depending on their fulfillment of criteria.
What's disappointing is we have created a mess. It is the shortsighted parents who wake up when they find their kid may not get admission in this list and few parents supporting such issues.
AS A PARENT WHEN THE CRITERIA WAS ANNOUNCED, WHERE WERE THESE PARENTS TO RAISE QUESTIONS?? NOW WASTAGE OF 1 MONTH IS TAKEN AS 'NOT A BIG DEAL' FOR SOME PARENTS.
I have also applied for 20 plus schools and have not got admission for my son anywhere. But this mess created by SO CALLED INTELLECTUAL PARENTS is not taking it anywhere..
AND I SERIOUSLY DOUBT THE COMPETENCY OF GOVT WHO ARE MAKING RANDOM DECISIONS..
IT MAY HAPPEN THAT THE WAY OUR GOVT WILL ISSUE NOTICE THAT THOSE WHO DID NOT GET ADMISSIONS ANYWHERE WILL BE GIVEN ADMISSIONS IN THE BEST SCHOOLS OF DELHI... :)

The idea of posting this link is
1 There is time to raise the issue (before admissions guidelines are declared)
2 After Mr Vohra efforts First Child points were given
3 Lot of parents want Mr Vohra to raise the issue again where if you google u will find more than 20 article in last 2year against alumni points capping.(by Mr Vohra, because his efforts the alumni points which were given anywhere between 20-40 were decimated to 5 points)
4 Now on last leg when results have started coming and New Guidelines should not be challenged.(Many parents are asking Mr Vohra to fight for First child / alumni capping etc)
When LG removed those points from new guidelines, which were their till last year why parents did not raise their voice at that time ?
Well said many parents benefitted after Mr.Vohra fought for first child points in 2011 and DOE accepted Mr.Vohra's demands then.
Mahesh Jain, Why everyone wants Mr. Vohra to take up the case at the front? Do we parents don't have analytic mind to see everything appropriately in the beginning? It is the fault of parents. Why they did not include removal of alumni points alongwith transfer points? Fighting one by one is not a justified approach. The issue could have been included with trf cases. I am against those parents who are illogical to me at this stage.
Yup mr Maharam i do agree with you ....its our fault
Well said.
Yes mam.. there is no doubt you and mr vohra and lathaa mam are doing a gr8 job... and hope this year at he last moment something could come out as positive for me as i am a parent with single child.....
And parents were so happy to get 70 pts at the time of issue of lg's guidelines and were unaware of the consequence.... we all forget to raisethis issue at first....
THERE SHOULD BE DRAW OF EVERY WARD WHETHER SIBLING ,ALUMNI . IF I AM STUDYING IN IIT DELHI , IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT MY BROTHER WILL ALSO GET ADMISSION IN IIT DUE TO SIBLING POINT . IF I WAS PASSED OUT FROM IIT DELHI , IT DOES NOT ENSURE THAT MY CHILD WILL GET ALUMNI POINT , THEN WHY THIS SYSTEM IS ADOPTED IN THE ADMISSION PROCESS. YOU MAY BE LUCKY ONE TIME BUT IS THERE ANY ASSURANCE THAT THE SECOND TIME , YOU WILL SELECT , THE SAME WAS HAPPENED WITH ME. SO GET RID OF ALL THE GUIDELINES , ALL ARE KEPT AT SAME TENSION & REDRAW FOR ALL.
I do not agree at all. At the start no body expected such mess because of the point system. it is not a matter of few schools . i have applied in 28 schools, but of no use till date.So the parent's concern is obvious. If our one kid does not get a good school,(leave the top ones aside)what about our next ones. So it is better to get the things sorted and cleared at the start.why to regret later. The guidelines were prepared by human beings;these are not something holy which is mandated to be correct. These can be changed;of course not as per each individual, but for the majority.
Dr Muzamil, Question is different PILs cannot be the solution for one cause that is Nursery Admissions. Just see topic is one : Nursery Admissions and issues are multiple. Question is why the parents did not go through the future effects of those guidelines? Why parents did not apply their technical skills which are now apparent? Why everyone felt extra happiness? If at all, for time being, I accept all these things, then once the 1st PIL was filed for removal of transfer points, why these issues were not raised in the same PIL? Why should the court be involved for one subject with so many PILs? What is this? Isn't it a mess created by the parents?
We should not forget that as we sow, so shall we reap. At some point we all should be agreed and not go for different PILs. It is amazing someone is forming FB group, then other one is different one. Let us show respect to our judiciary.
Therefore, let the admissions go on for this session and raise the issues for the next 2015-16. STOP FILING ANY MORE PIL? To me, the root cause of this mess is we parents. Make the system healthy please.
Mr Maharam Tanveer,
Due regards to your point of view. But as i said,no one had a pinch of idea of such consequences. Revolutions begin this way.We cant stay fingers crossed and leave everything to luck.We can atleast try for our rights rest is our destiny. No body (DOE etc) gave an ear to all this mess till PIL was filed. Now atleast Govt accepted the fault.
still empty hands.
I would request everyone to read parents reply and other links given and then comment.
