Children develop at different rates, some faster than others.

By around 16 months child may start to scribble.

About 19 to 25 months child may start to form shapes. Child can draw a single line.

At about 30 months child move towards true art showing interest with colouring and painting.

By the time child is 2 and half years will be able to hold a thick pencil or crayon solidly in a writing position abd will be able to master up and down movement like ‘V’.

By the child’s 3rd birthday child will master circular strokes and few may write few letters or child’s name.

Don't feel pressured to push your child to learn to write; wait until she's really interested and excited about it. Writing is a developmental skill and your child can take her time and still be developmentally on track.

Get some colorful chalks for her and make her draw outside any figure she likes. Let your child use pencils, pens, markers or crayons to make her mark Allow your child to scribble and draw unguided so that they become comfortable holding and controlling their writing utensils. You can guide her by writing a letter and then practice writing it by her own .

Even though teachers do a great job at school, parents can follow the following few tips for writing skills.

You can help your child learn proper letter formation by practicing drawing the letters of the alphabet at home in a black board.

Make her draw the alphabet requires patience and encouragement.

As with any skill, the more the child practices, the better she will become at letter formation.

Create a letter tracing sheet for each letter of the alphabet. Teach the direction to write.

Draw the letter using dotted lines that the child can trace. Draw the uppercase letter using dotted lines on the top set of lines. Draw the dotted line letter several times on each set of lines.

Instruct the child on the proper way to hold a pencil. Help the child trace the first letter on each line by indicating where to place the pencil to begin drawing the letter.

Show her the arrows that indicate the direction to draw each line of the letter. Continue through the entire alphabet.

You can also buy copies from book shop for practice.

Praise the child often and give gentle guidance to help improve letter formation.

Practice forming letters every day.

You can follow the same with numbers too.

Be patient. Each child learns at her own pace.

All the Best.
