My daughter is also 12.3.16 born. and is eligible for nursery admission. Does this youngest child amongst all really matter? Although she knows a lot according to her age, 5-6 english rhymes, 2-3 hindi rhymes, counting 1-10, alphanets, colors, 2-3 shapes. Do they shortlist using youngest age criteria?
When age criteria is 3 ys as on 31st march, schools should consider all irrespective of young/old. Because next year child will automatically be out of the age criteria for nursery. And for admission in KG, it is unnecessary wastage of money apart from mental tension.

Yes Agreed.
But some school don't want to put efforts and depends on child to child, how the interaction goes at school.
As every child reach different Milestones at different age. Some talk fast and some walk fast.
In Delhi no interaction and all selected Min 3 yrs plus are given admission on basis of point system.
Rest would request @Dhananjay Garg to share his last year exp.
True. Admission system in Delhi is the correct way. Parents are almost sure from which school they ll get a call. Because performance totally depends upon the child's mood in that 10-15 minutes of interaction.
Hi Dhananjay,
I can completely understand your dilemma. But you are not alone. Many parents whose children are born in Feb March are facing the same difficult situation. While the blog above explains it aptly, I wish to give a personal opinion.
Till a few years back, there were schools giving an option for children born in the second half of the academic year, by keeping their minimum age 3.5 years. Even now there are schools whose minimum age is 3 yrs 3 months / 3 yrs 6 months. If I were you, I would try for nursery this year. Some schools are accepting forms past their upper age as well. If your child gets admission in nursery in a school of your choice, I would suggest go for it. If not, then you child is eligible for KG anyway. KG admissions happen later, I think in December or so. KG admissions in some schools like DPS have a written test along with interaction. Not sure about other schools though.
Wishing you all the best!
Yes. i agree. I m totally in favor of admission of my daughter in nursery this year itself. As this is the correct age for starting school, even as per govt. As class 1 begins at the age of 5 years.
Hi Ankita, your daughter is within the age criteria of 3-4 years. So there is no problem for eligibility. Mr Dhananjay's son is March 2015 born. Some schools take 4 plus as well in nursery.

Spot On.Most of the New New Age Schools don't have upper age cut off age and Yes you are right , All traditional schools like DPS Noida, FasN Etc start admissions for KG on wards from Dec on wards that too depending on vacancy.
yes. admission in KG depends on vacancy. In my view, there is no point to admit child of 4 years in nursery and waste a year.
True.
I personally thank everyone for giving their sincere opinion.
We were called to DPS, Noida and Amity Intl. School (2018 to 2019) for parent and child interactions wherein at DPS, NOIDA my son was asked to narrat our address and was further asked to walk on the straight line to ascertain whether he gives regards to any commands by the teacher.
At Amity Intl. he was asked to fill in the red colour on choosing it from the other available colors, which he did correctly, additionaly he was handed over a bowl of choclates to see whether he picks up one for himself or retains all.
But at the end of all the child interactions in both the above schools we were adviced that my son was too young for the nursery admission and would need some time to understand the collective form of education system, wherein personal attention to any particular child will be seldom.
